Wrote this while freezing my ass off in the wind at Camps Bay tidal pool, almost two and a half years since starting this little business.
To be able to say it’s becoming an industry now is surreal. Mobile saunas are popping up all over the country, and it’s amazing to see.
As they do, though, I’m reminded of where we came from; the path we’ve carved, the people we’ve met, and everything we’ve had to say goodbye to, or put aside, in the hope that the sacrifice would one day be worth it.
If I had to sum it all up in one word, it would be immense.
The pressures, the celebrations, the setbacks, the wins; it’s been relentless. Carrying the weight of communities, emotions, routines, expectations, standards, smiles, goals, hopes, dreams and families. Whether they were mine or someone else’s, the weight was always real.
For the first time, I feel like I’m in a position to step back, look at it all, and say something I’ve probably never allowed myself to before:
I’m proud.
And thank you to everyone who got us here.
