“Just after the cadenza in the first movement, there is a moment with piano and timpani which is just magical. Then, the second movement, so beautiful, has a unique stillness to it. The last movement is incredibly fiery, it with a lot of humour and the coda is one of the most joyful things he wrote,” he says.

🎙 Live Symphony Concerts on Fine Music Radio every Thursday evening this June!

We're delighted to be partnering with Cape Town’s finest radio station to bring our flagship concerts at city hall to an even broader audience totally live on the air. These concerts will be presented by Rodney Trudgeon (4, 18 and 25 June) and John Woodland (11 June). Tune in for the buildup from 19:00. For those who live outside Cape Town, FMR can be livestreamed from their website.

“At its heart, an orchestra exists to move people, to inspire, and to bring communities together – and now, through our partnership with Fine Music Radio, we can do exactly that far beyond the walls of the concert hall. Nothing will ever replace the electricity of a live performance, but these broadcasts mean that someone in Cape Town, in the Karoo, in Johannesburg, or anywhere else in the world, can share in that same musical moment with us" - Adriaan Fuchs, CEO and Artistic Director of CPO.
