We welcome Landi Lombard to the Authentik Management family!

Landi is an experienced cast- and production-coordinator with a passion for performance and a love for the casting process. After studying Acting for Camera at City Varsity and completing her BA (Drama) at AFDA, she grabbed the opportunity to work behind-the-scenes in casting. Expanding her skillset, she soon started freelancing in production as a PA on commercial shoots. After falling in love with the on-set life, Landi joined a crew agency and has been building an impressive resume ever since. With years of experience both on set and in studio, she has established herself as a multi-skilled freelancer. Her time assisting top casting directors has given her great insight into the casting process and she receives enormous pleasure from matching the right actor to the perfect role. She is excited by the chance to be on the other side of this magical process, supporting and guiding actors as their agent.

Calling all actors!!! You don't want to miss this one

SAGA hosts an interactive, practical Audition Masterclass, facilitated by international casting director Bonnie Lee Bouman and award-winning star of stage and screen, Terence Bridgett.

Actors are often asked to audition using scripts they are provided on the day, sometimes only a few minutes before. This workshop will teach you how to prepare for an audition with varying deadlines. Facilitators will select three participating actors at random to receive a sample audition script 24 hours before the workshop. They will select another three actors who will receive a script 3 hours before the workshop, and three actors will be selected in the course of the workshop, and given a 15 minute lead time.

Facilitators will reveal simple yet effective techniques to help you deliver your best, most creative audition performance, even under pressure!

When: Saturday 19 February 2022
Time: 11:00 – 13:00
Where: Register with the zoom link provided.

Ever wondered who is who on a production set?
CAN YOU DISTINGUISH THE DIRECTOR, FROM THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, FROM THE DIRECTOR'S ASSISTANT?
SAGA invites you to a comprehensive on-set breakdown of professional conduct with our panel:
SAGA member and actress Natasha van der Merwe, Director Khayelihle Dominique Gumede, and First Assistant Director Craig H. Mathys.
With so many creative and technical workers on a film/TV set, it is easy to be confused. But every professional actor is expected to be familiar with production protocol and on-set systems!
Join the discussion as SAGA's workshop explains exactly what is expected of actors on set.

Join us on Saturday 11 December from 10:00 – 12:00 by registering here: https://bit.ly/3rIx18w

Seeing our artistes excel and live their passions are gifts of doing what we do that are truly priceless.
Our ever gorgeous Chanel du Toit recently booked a high end commercial for the 'Brut' fragarance.

We are super proud agents, as always!

And, of course, don't forget to catch Chanel in the upcoming play 'Looking for Audrey' at the Pop Art Theatre in Maboneng, Johannesburg.

Auditions Can Be a Numbers Game: “So what are my chances for getting this? Aren’t they going to make offers to name actors?”

When I’m casting and coaching, these questions have come up too many times to not address the subject.

Stop doing this to yourself. You can’t figure this out and shouldn’t be spending any time trying. You’ve been chosen from thousands of submissions to audition, so you’re already a winner.

“Wait just a minute, Marci. How did I win when I didn’t get the role?” Let me break it down by the numbers to help explain. When I am casting a project, I come up with my lists. These lists are part wish lists, part reality lists, and part thinking outside the box and being creative. I have staffed my office with highly qualified individuals who have also cast films on their own. We put our heads together to come up with ideas based on our many years of combined experience.

Then I reach out to my agent and manager colleagues for their suggestions.

We now have a huge list of ideas for a role. In this digital age, agents and managers often submit as many as 3,000 actors for a single role on the first day.

Then we have the delicate task of going through each and every submission to decide who fits the role. Between our casting office’s initial lists and the submissions, you can imagine it’s a lot.

On a film, depending on the size of the role and scope of the project, we may bring in a couple hundred actors for the lead role, along with viewing several hundred self-taped auditions. Imagine if you were chosen to audition out of thousands of actors. The other 2,800 actors didn’t even get the chance that you did. You have the opportunity to meet face to face and perform for the casting office.

If you’re good and right for the role, we’ll bring you back and continue to foster you through the casting process. If you’re good but not right for the role, you’ve made a lasting impression on us and we’ll remember you for another project.

I’ve never met a casting director who didn’t have an impeccable memory. Even if we don’t, we are known for our organization and you can bet we took very precise notes for the future. We depend on these meetings and our notes. We’ll remember you for the next project and bring you in because we saw that you were a facile actor.

We may have an offer out to an actor and still hold auditions. Sometimes we shoot for the stars (all puns intended), yet we have an inkling it’s not going to work out. Nonetheless, the role still needs to be cast, so we keep on going. My office will always alert the agent that there’s an offer out so that the actor can decide whether he wants to come in. I always suggest you do, because there’s really nothing to lose. All the preparation you do when you come in and give a great audition isn’t wasted; it helps build relationships and we will always remember that great performance. Good Morning

Rejection and disappointments is an almost every day reality for actors.
Dont give up on yourself and your dreams.
Patience is the key.
Two time Academy Award winner Dustin Hoffman shares his insights on the craft of acting.
This is just a free preview of what will no doubt be invaluable information.
He is 100% correct in saying that actors need to study.Your natural talent is vital but you do need to know techniques and tools that can only be acquired via studying the art of acting.

In fact a very wise acting coach/agent Ian Gareth Hadfield said "you never stop learning. It's a lifetime process"
Not every actor is fortunate enough to do a few years at a university, but there are many alternative routes one can take to enhance your gift via short courses.
"Remember actors are creative artists just like painters and poets, our art is created right in front of people,so try to not "get it right".Instead surprise yourself and discover something."
