Greyton WORKSHOPS rock!

Two days of teaching the theory and practise of mixing the colour GREEN crowned September 2024 as one of the best months of my year.

As always Montage Art Studio's Workshop were hosted by Steven Jossel and his incredible team at the Hub & Spoke - surely one of the top venues in the Overberg region.

Our 2 days were divided into four sessions - each one emphasising a more complex aspect of mixing and applying oilpaint in the Alla Prima technique. Everybody worked from one reference photo which I took during the 2023 December holiday on our Free State farm, but it was open for interpretation and own style preference.

I was well rested and pampered while again staying overnight at Dee de Kock's incredible Art Box Guest House in Greyton. This time in the magnificently creative "French Kisses" suite - what a treat!

The Friday morning ritual before the 2nd day Workshop starts, is breakfast at Maanskyn. Here the friendly staff, organic produce and home style baking makes this venue an absolute hit.

Our next 2 day Workshop is toward the end of October where I will teach the Zorn method of working with a limited colour palette.

Ann Cunningham is participating in the 100th Pietermaritzburg ART IN THE PARK. Today is day 2 and already 3 of her works have sold!

This is a very special event for Ann as her late Dad was in fact one of the first artists to regularly exhibit there!

I am vèry priviledged to have participated in a recent online auction that was hosted by the Hangklip Art Collective in aid of the Pringle Bay Firefighter fund at the FoMo Fine Art Gallery .

"The Grace Journey" was successfully sold and is off to it's new home.

Even more exciting, is that four artists, who currently are under my Art Mentorship wing, also participated!

Received a lovely surprise this morning when a young student from my studio sent me a message...

Lodè Hattingh was awarded with a place in the TOP 100 Future Generation Category in the 2023 COPIC AWARD.
She was 12 years young when she drew this quirky portrait of her dog.

Isn't this oilpainting lovely?
Done by Marion Green (Friday morning Art Class in Kleinmond). She worked from her own reference photo - taken while enjoying one of her early morning Pringle Bay beach walks. The rich variety of colours in the sky and water is pleasantly dynamic on the eye and yet the sense of peace, that a lone walk on the beach generates, is powerfully presented.
