Legacy Mosaics On this Page I seek to find anything that connects stones and rocks to our heritage. I try to find out about what stones and rocks tell us about our society.

I define and re-define human relationship with stones and rocks. I give voice to stones and rocks to teach us one or two things about our existence as humans.

A tribute to the Father of the Nation

A message from the stones, mountains and rocks
The loss suffered by South Africans for Passing on of our father, Rolihlahla Nelson Mandela is not only felf by people but by mountains, hills and rocks that suround us. When I observe the stones and object I use everyday to make my mosaics, the sounds they make changed with the passing of this heroic figure. This tragic loss of Madiba did not only affect the mood of people who proffess to love him,but affected nature in general.

I stood to watch the Table mountain this morning and all I could sense was the grief it sprinkled on the heads of people of the City of Cape Town. I imagined the cries of Ntaba kaNdoda, and Drukensburg mountains as they wake up to the passing of the great pioneer of democracy in our country. Every rock I picked up greeted me wth a long face and all the stones;precious, manmade, imported, all seemed to have been pained by these news.

It is sure and safe to say that Mandela was the Rock among rocks. He was the cornerstone of our democratic society. Go well Rock of our Nation

It is situated on the high sandstone cliffs, an area of open savannah where the Limpompo river and Shashe river meet n the border of South Africa ,Botswana and Zimbabwe. It was the centre of trade from 12th -13th century. Gold was the backbone of this kingdom's trade. I am talking about The Iron Age Kingdom:Mapungubwe.
There are valuable lessons to be learned in this community of the pre-historic ancestors. I am interested to know what Rocks and Stones meant to these people. History tells us that in this society hills and mountains were associated with Royalty.this fact led to noble classes building their structures on high Rocky grounds.
It is this fact that actuated my interest in working with stones. When working with stones I get an opportunity to explore and reconnect with this prestigious object that pre-historic ancestors chose as their habitant.
