🌍 Celebrating the Spirit of the Francophonie!

The Francophonie Festival wrapped up a few days ago, and the Month of the Francophonie is already coming to an end. But what an incredible celebration of our beautiful language, all thanks to you! 💙🤍💛

It was a time of sharing, laughter, and wonderful discoveries. The entire festival team is thrilled with the success of this year’s edition and can’t wait to experience this beautiful adventure with you again next year. 🎭🎶🍷

🎶 La Francophonie CONTINUES! – FREE Music Event 🎶

The Francophone rhythm never stops! After making more than 120 countries around the world dance, the famous Fête de la Musique is coming for the very first time to Cape Town! 🏙️

This month is the Month of Francophonie, and we’re thrilled to see so many events organized by representatives of Francophone culture in South Africa. We couldn’t miss the chance to share this wonderful initiative by the Embassy of France and the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS).🎉

📍 Where and When?
Join us for a unique edition right in the heart of the city:

• Date: Sunday, 29 March 2026
• Location: Bree Street (from Whale Street to Strand Street, including Shortmarket Street)
• Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM (as part of Bree Street Sundays, running from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
• Entry: Completely FREE for everyone!

🎤 On the lineup: Music in total freedom
No big stages, just an authentic, friendly “busking” vibe all along the street. Come and enjoy the richness of the local music scene with:

• Live performances: Mfazwe Ya Mwezi, Kila G, Deslynn Malotana, Sihle Soana, Lady Felicity and The Trumpets, and Qaqamba Ntshinka.
• DJ sets: Nasi and De Mpora.

Whether you’re a music lover or just strolling by, let yourself be carried away by the city’s sounds in a Bree Street turned pedestrian for the occasion.🚶‍♂️‍➡️

It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate cultural diversity and artistic expression in the open air.🎤

🙏 A huge thank you to the more than 4,500 visitors who joined the 2026 edition of the Francophonie Festival in Newlands!

🎉 Thanks to you, this day was a real success, full of discoveries, flavours, and good vibes.

💫 A big thank you as well to all the traders and exhibitors who brought the Francophone village to life with passion, and to our sponsors and partners for their unwavering support.

🎁 Special thanks to those who donated prizes for the Lucky Draw, your contributions made many winners very happy!

The Francophonie Food & Culture Festival is happening this Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Belgian Residence (29 Boshof Avenue, Newlands) from 10:00 to 17:00, a free day celebrating Francophone food, music, and culture!🎵

• Free parking at Fernwood Estate and Kirstenbosch Stone Cottages
• Free shuttle service all day provided by African Eagle from the Stone Cottages

Everything needed to make the most of the Francophonie Food & Culture Fest on March 14th at the Belgian Residence, 29 Boshof Avenue, Newlands.

🚗 Getting There & Parking
• Free parking available at Kirstenbosch Stone Cottages and Fernwood Estate. Please make sure to not park next to the road and not hinder any neighbours.
• Shuttle service generously provided to us by “African Eagle” are running throughout the day from Kirstenbosch Stone Cottages, perfect for those who prefer to skip the parking hassle.

🕒 Event Details
• Date: Saturday, 14 March 2026
• Time: All day celebration of food, music, and culture (10:00 – 17:00)
• Entry: Completely FREE

🐾 Pets
• Dog-friendly event!
• Pets are welcome but must remain on a leash at all times.
• Make sure you provide your own water for your dogs.

👧 Kids & Families
• A family-friendly day out with plenty to keep little ones busy:
o Jumping castle 🏰
o Swimming pool 🏊‍♂️ (bring swimwear, towels and sunscreen)
o Face painting
