It has been a long time since I shared a post on this page. Guess I have been very busy following my joy and living it as best as I can :-).

But I actually have something beautiful to share with you. In 2018 my journey on joy guided me back to school and in 2019 I became a full time student again. I finished my studies in cinematography at the end of 2019 and grabbed my bag to join a once in a lifetime trip at the beginning of 2020.

It was an incredible journey, straight through the Westbank of Palestine. It was in that rough terrain that I filmed my close friend Esmeralda who walked all the way from Finisterre (Spain) to Jerusalem. Not only did I capture the last kilometers of her pilgrimage, I also got the opportunity to record her story on love.

It was an absolute joy to be part of the journey out there and just as special to work with her on the creation of my first ever documentary, A million steps for love.

Due to Covid-19 we decided to organise an online premiere so everyone can watch the film for free. This coming Sunday the 27th of September at 3pm CET from the comfort of your own couch.

Love it! It’s a quote I picked up yesterday whilst listening to Elizabeth Gilbert’s Magical Lessons podcasts series. Thanks for sharing the link with me! Elizabeth reminds us that we may give ourselves permission to do what lights us up. That in doing so we will inspire, spark and lighten up others. What if joy is the only metric to success? I like! BTW, her book Big Magic is an absolute must-read if you want to overcome the fears you undoubtedly encounter in your creative endeavors.

Reading my diary posts I find this beautiful quote. So true. I combined it with a photo of the handmade card that my dear mum sent me ❤️. Wishing me all the best and a lot of fun on my documentary / film making journey. Amen 🙏.

This to me is a great quote from Ralph Swart (only 18 years old at the time I interviewed him). We were both actors in the local theatre play and he played his role as my twin brother beautifully. Absolutely loved doing it!

In the interview Ralph added that joy cannot be put into a jar. It reminded me of the time that I worked with the women in the township of Omaruru (Namibia). I wished that their positive vibes could be put into a jar so that I could take it with and spread it throughout the world. I guess it was there that my joy got sparked and I embarked on my soul’s journey 🙏❤️.

The first time I had to create an elevensee (a little rhyme of 11 words) I was a bit confused. What can you tell in 11 words that have to be put in a specific order too: 1, 2, 3, 4, 1? But once I started to embrace these little pieces of art it resulted in some nice - if I may say so myself 😊 - little gems of joy-art! This being one of them.
