My name is Carrie, anyone who knows me knows I’m a nomad at heart and 2026 is going to be no different. I recently acquired a Lifan X-trail 250cc and aim to visit as many of the 9 provinces of South Africa as possible and possibly even beyond borders. My vibe is not just to motovlog for gratification but to motovlog with purpose so here's my pitch. In recent years the move to the country or small town has become a reality for many, some don’t have the time or budget to go and attend courses so I would like to create a space whereby I can come to you and offer my services on your doorstep. A ‘Checkers 60 delivery women’ if you will but instead of groceries, I deliver knowledge and training and off course my hands on assistance with any project whether ongoing or one that you would like to fast track, oh and of course it will take a bit longer than 60 minutes for me to travel to you but you get the idea. Here is what I can offer: I have in-depth knowledge and experience with ecological building materials and techniques and have many hours under the belt of teaching in a workshop environment and training on various community projects and owner builder projects. From the basics such as identifying soils and clays on your land, to how to test these materials and make mud bricks and cob, to moon harvesting and treating timber on your land, identifying other usable building materials on your land, site analysis and knowledge of passive solar design which is crucial for any structure. Techniques I have worked with are cob, mudbricks, wattle and daub, LSC (light straw clay) and rammed earth. If you have an existing building that you would like to improve with earthen or lime plasters or earthen floors I could advise and assist with these. I also build traditional woodfired earthen ovens and ferro-cement water storage tanks, I completed a permaculture design course 12 years ago as well as a small scale fish farming course in Malawi in 2019. It is my intention to vlog my journey along the way and share on Youtube so as to create a space of learning for viewers as well as an opportunity to keep up with my adventures, obviously if anyone values their privacy this will be respected and is totally optional to showcase your homesteads via my You Tube channel. If you would like to check out my channel on You Tube: Carrie can cruise
For past projects check out Carrie can cob on Facebook or Instagram. I can do site visits to where you are or work together to initiate a community project for a worthy cause near you. Bring on 2026!!
