Protégé Programme Masterclass - The Food of Love: Shakespeare in Speech and Song 🌹💙 Presented by Marcel Meyer

After Jackï Job's wonderful embodiment masterclass, the duos are ready to explore the style, characterisation and presentation of Shakespearean text with award-winning actor and theatre-maker Marcel Meyer.

More about the presenter:

Marcel Meyer is acclaimed for his work in classical and contemporary performance, with a distinguished international career in Shakespeare. His performances have been seen on stages across Europe, the United Kingdom, America, and South Africa.

In 2006, he played Rosencrantz in Dame Janet Suzman’s Hamlet in Stratford-upon-Avon as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Complete Works Festival. He is also one of a select international group of actors invited to perform the Dane in Hamlet at Kronborg Castle in Elsinore, Denmark, the legendary setting of Shakespeare’s play, joining a lineage that includes Laurence Olivier, Richard Burton, Christopher Plummer, and Jude Law.

His major Shakespeare roles include the title roles in Hamlet, Macbeth, Richard III, and Romeo and Juliet, as well as Brutus in Julius Caesar, Iago in Othello, Oberon/Theseus in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Don John in Much Ado About Nothing, and Octavius Caesar in Antony and Cleopatra.

Alongside his Shakespeare work, Meyer has appeared extensively in the plays of Tennessee Williams, including The Glass Menagerie, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Night of the Iguana, Kingdom of Earth, and One Arm, as well as works by Stephen Sondheim, Noël Coward, Eugene O’Neill, Yukio Mishima, and Mark Ravenhill.
