Molweni. For those FEMALES who're in Cape Town, I've been facilitating writing workshops from the Zolani Thusong Centre in Nyanga for the past 3 weeks. The target demographic is young women from the age of 15 who have a penchant for creative writing. Workshops are conducted in a combination of isXhosa and English and writers are encouraged to write in whatever language they're comfortable with. We meet again this coming Saturday from 5pm- 7pm, under the theme # NotEveryGirlFro
mTheTownship . As the theme suggests, we'll be unpacking, scrutinising and challenging the stereotypes the world attaches to young (and often black) women from the township. This time, we'll be using Poetry and Flash Fiction, along with other exercises and forms of creative expression that rely on Poetry, Music, Story-Telling, Physical Theatre and Improvisation. Attendance is free. All that I ask in return is your punctual presence, a dress code that considers unrestricted movement, pen, paper and your mobile phone at hand. See you there!
