Rooted in a deep love for R&B, Neo Soul and Soul music, this event is a celebration of the sounds that hold us, allow us to be vulnerable, and reminds us to just simply be.

The Music is curated by North North Social Club. Catch Loizm, ANNI, Chunky Baali, Baby Boosh and 3-Six behind the decks.

The Listening Experience Vol. 4 - WRAPPED

To be part of something bigger than you can be daunting but so rewarding. When we envisioned this concept, creating a safe community for the listener and the artist was at the forefront of our mission. Genuine connections and friendships have been formed with one thing in common, We Love Good Locally Produced Music.

So gather with us on Sunday, 22ND December to wrap up the year and to celebrate our past volumes in community One Park Road . This will be our first Sunday edition. Expect it to be extra special.

An Offering:

We’ve teamed up with local clothing brand to not only style and dress the artists but to also offer something really unique to you. The Listening Experience Vol.3: Reminiscing

The evening was surreal, nostalgic and felt.

Our resident dj set prepared the space with his Boom bap and smooth instrumental selections. We then dived into discourse getting to know each artist on a deeper level. We spoke about knowing yourself enough to recognise when you need a creative break and touched on the value in knowing and learning about the Cape Town music legends.

who recently dropped three beat tapes on ushered us into the next segment of the night. Playing gently on his keyboard creating depth felt around the room. gracefully eased us into her set - introducing us to her new sound. The listener got to experience both artists in a way that most haven’t before. It was special. concluded the evening playing vinyl he had collected. The energy in the room was incredible and warm. That nostalgic feeling of hanging out with your family at a braai while your dad played only the toughest tunes was evident to many of us.

We could appreciate the art of listening in community and the value it holds.

The Listening Experience Vol.2: Reminiscing

We remember how thankful we were for the sunshine that day. Though the warmth of the listeners never disappoints.

Everyone on the line-up wear many hats, respectively. Many were shocked to know who is and others were surprised to hear that wasn’t going to hop on the mic. Nevertheless, we were blessed with original bangers, mostly unreleased from all the producers. took us to an internal and somewhat meditative universe with his lyrics, debuting a song produced by . and closed off the evening with a set of flips of classics and original beats. We felt full.

We spoke about intentional collaboration - joining forces to further community instead of the normal “what can I gain approach” that some times lingers in the city. It was also mentioned that we need more welcoming spaces, more caring promoters - ideas were shared and unpacked freely.

Dressed and styled in earthy colours and simplistic designs from local brand owned by - The garments complimented the atmosphere. Get yours for the festive, look lekker.

The Listening Experience Vol.1: Reminiscing

The evening was cold as the day was rainy and gloomy. We had prepared for the first volume as best we could. But yet, we had no idea the warmth we’d experience with the unique selections and creations to the drip and the open hearts of the listeners. We quickly forgot about the cold Cape Town weather.

It was special.

The beauty of collaboration is sharing the stresses and the victories. Everyone who came contributed and therefore received. In the conversation we discussed the different influences and backgrounds of each artist and how that developed their music heritage.

The Listening Experience Vol.1: Beats, Bars and Banter

The act of listening comes naturally to us. We should do it more intentionally, right?

Inspired by our recent events with music producer and sampler we decided to join forces to present The Listening Experience. This event is focused on reviving the underground Hip Hop, Jazz and Neo Soul music scene in Cape Town. Also, providing a space for producers and wordsmiths to connect with each other and to connect with the listener - we aim to foster a beautiful community. We found a home at One Park, which we recently learned was opened for listening sessions. So it only made sense that we host it there.

As usual we welcome you to come enjoy the music in whichever way you feel comfortable. Come draw, come with a friend, come alone, sit, stand, move, feel. Immerse yourself.

Vol. 1 will take place on the 18th September at One Park, from 7pm until late.

The line up will be announced shortly. Pencil the date in your calendar. Tickets are available at the door at R60 (cash and card accepted).
