Jazzart Dance

Jazzart Dance We are Jazzart - the oldest African contemporary dance company in South Africa. Jazzart is the oldest contemporary dance company in the Cape, if not Africa.

It has been at the forefront of contemporary dance development administratively and artistically, within the context of democratic practice, serving marginalised communities in particular. Jazzart’s creative process is an embodiment of a movement language based on improvisation and provides inventive platforms for world class performances that reflect the ever-changing socio-political environment of South Africa and the world.

Now we enter the final week of the festival.

If you haven’t joined us yet, this is your moment.

All our performances have 6+ short dance works.
A chance to experience multiple choreographers and companies in a single night.

🎟 Tickets R180

✨Join us for a Sip & Stretch Session ✨

Join Alice Maybin for our Sip & Stretch Hour. A gentle, relaxed stretch session designed to release tension, improve flexibility, and calm your mind. The perfect way to unwind, lengthen, and reset… with something lovely to sip on 🥂

Alice is a certified STOTT Pilates instructor (Matwork, Reformer & Barre from beginner to advanced), with additional prenatal training. By day, you’ll find her at The Movement Lab helping clients build strong cores and long, lean lines and at a Bellville law firm rescuing people from desk-job posture and “sitting all day” syndrome.

She’s also a freelance dancer with a BMus in Dance from University of Cape Town, a contemporary teacher trained under AIDT, and runs the contemporary dance department at Reddam House where she inspires the next generation to leap a little higher and stretch a little further.

Movement, musicality, and good vibes are kind of her thing 💫

Come stretch, sip, and leave feeling lighter than you arrived.

New futures in motion.

A reminder that there are no public performances today as we host the Jazzart Graduation.

An exciting line-up awaits in Week 2.
Book your tickets because we can’t wait to welcome you to the Meraki Dance Festival.
