IPASI - Jabulile Majola
Jabulile Majola’s debut album takes its name from the isiZulu for “ID document”, and it works like one: a record of who he is, filed in sound. Heartbreak arrives over soulful, Sunday-morning instrumentation, stories of men leaving home to make a living ride Maskandi-influenced guitar melodies, and gratitude to the people listening comes carried on delicate piano. It plays out like a feature film, rich in visual depth and narrative that translates beyond language. As he puts it: “All things that live grow, and all things that grow, change.”
