The gallery deals in contemporary art, specialising in art from around the globe. Our goal is to build relationships between our artists and clients. Our building is located on a heritage site, in the heart of the Cape Town city bowl. The gallery hosts regular exhibitions and participates in both local and international art fairs. Nothing is Quite What it Seems.

Figures appear familiar, yet their relationships remain unresolved. Chris Denovan constructs scenes from fragments, gestures and encounters that resist a single reading.

Meaning emerges somewhere between what is shown and what is left unsaid, leaving the viewer to complete the scene.

Chelsea Young’s works explores a pondering of the subjective and objective landscape.

Her works explores the momentum of seasonal shifts, similarly how in nature seasons change from summer to autumn to winter… and then spring.

Young explores the in-between, the transitional space between those seasons.

Her artworks are now showing in ‘Control +Z’, a group exhibition, until 16 September.

Human vision is remarkably limited.

The colours we experience every day make up only a tiny fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum, leaving an immense universe existing beyond the reach of our eyes.

This artwork by Annamieke Engelbrecht explores that invisible wavelengths, structures, and phenomena that surround us but remain inaccessible without technology.

Inspired by the discoveries of the James Webb Space Telescope, the work imagines a universe that has always existed, waiting for us to develop the means to perceive it.

Now showing in 'Control +Z' in collaboration with the HEAT Winter Arts Festival.

CHRIS DENOVAN’s works are now showing in ‘Control +Z’ as part of the Heat Winter Arts Festival.
There is an unyielding authenticity to Chris Denovan’s work. Raw, electric and imbued with an irreverent energy, his paintings draw the viewer into spaces that feel both familiar and strangely elusive. Figures gather, gestures unfold and fragments of language interrupt the surface, creating scenes that seem to hover between the everyday and the imagined.

CHELSEA YOUNG’s works is now showing in ‘Control +Z’ as part of the Heat Winter Arts Festival.

Young's works translates the quiet transition from Autumn to Winter in the South African Bushveld, its softened light, drier winds and spacious pre-dawn hours, into an intuitive interplay of colour, form and gesture.

Rooted in landscapes she has lived alongside, from the Maasai Mara to Table Mountain and Kruger, her paintings resist literal depiction, responding instead to sound, light and stillness as a living presence. The result moves away from familiar visual narratives of the African landscape, drawn instead to its quieter conditions, mist, wind, and the tension between change and stillness.

NO simple resolutions.

That is what the works in our current exhibition ‘Ctrl + Z’, done in collaboration with the Winter Heat Arts Festival, offer.

Instead, they invite a slower encounter with processes already underway: the movement of matter across billions of years, the reconstruction of meaning from fragments, and the seasonal transformation of a landscape.

Annamieke Englelbrecht, Chris Denovan and Chelsea Young each approach these questions through markedly different practices.

Their works do not offer a literal undoing. Instead, each engages with transformation as an ongoing process, revealing that what changes is rarely erased completely.

'Control + Z' is now showing at our gallery, forming part of the Heat Arts Festival, until 16 September.

This three-person exhibition takes the familiar "undo" command as its starting point, asking what it means to repair, unlearn or return in the physical and social world, where, unlike on a screen, change is rarely reversible.

Through markedly different practices, the three artists explore transformation as an ongoing process, revealing that what changes is rarely erased completely: fragments remain, memories shift, meaning is continually reconstructed.

The exhibition invites slow looking, a chance to resist the speed of everyday image, consumption and see the familiar differently.

ANNAMIEKE ENGELBRECHT’S works is now showing in ‘Control +Z’ as part of the Heat Winter Arts Festival.

To encounter Engelbrecht’s work is to take on the role of an observer. Lines, grids and geometric structures intersect across the surface, suggesting systems that appear precise enough to understand. Yet the longer one looks, the less certain they become. Patterns are interrupted, forms extend beyond the canvas, and structures overlap without settling into a single explanation.
