MARGUERITE ROUX
Marguerite Roux
My practice centres on weaving as a way of thinking through material, process, and place. Working primarily with textiles and fibre, I am interested in the tactile and expressive possibilities of woven structures, and in how slow, repetitive making can hold memory, care, and transformation.
Material exploration is at the heart of my practice. I am continually drawn to natural fibres and the histories they carry, with a growing interest in mohair and its potential as both material and medium. Rather than treating weaving as a purely functional craft, I use it as a contemporary visual language that allows experimentation with texture, colour, and form.
Alongside my studio practice, I work as an art educator. Teaching continually informs my own making, reinforcing a commitment to curiosity, technical skill, and the sharing of knowledge. Through both making and teaching, I aim to create work that invites close looking, values process as much as outcome, and encourages a deeper engagement with materiality.
