KickstArt Theatre returns to the Baxter with Steven Stead’s Puss in Boots, a lively pantomime for the whole family.

Lovely coverage in the Weekend Argus on Steven Stead’s remarkable Cape Town theatre year, from Shakespeare and musicals to opera and pantomime.

In the interview, Steven speaks about the joy of theatre for children and the shared magic of pantomime, where “kids get incredibly involved and generations are bonded by the end of a performance.”

His Puss in Boots heads to the Baxter Theatre from 26 June to 18 July, bringing Cape Town families what Steven calls “very glossy family theatre”, with music, mischief, laughter, beautiful sets, colourful costumes, and plenty for grown-ups to enjoy too.

WESTERN CAPE - We have exciting news!

Wêla Kapela Productions' multi award-winning pocket musical VINCENT - HIS QUEST TO LOVE & BE LOVED is heading your way for the first (of many, we hope!) Petit-Cape Tour in July!

Since its inception in 2022, VINCENT has travelled to Cape Town multiple times, with ongoing requests for its return.

In a move to “take the show to the people”, rather than to expect audiences to travel into the Mother City this time around, the producers have made the decision to take the show to the many communities within the Western Cape.

Vincent will travel to Durbanville, Stellenbosch and Paternoster from 1 – 5 July 2026.

Daniel delves deep into the enigmatic life of Vincent Van Gogh, exploring the complexities of his relentless pursuit of artistic fulfilment and genuine human connection.

Through reimagined renditions of popular musical theatre, pop, rock, and jazz numbers, this unique multimedia musical cabaret offers a fresh perspective on Van Gogh’s unwavering desire for love and acceptance.

Daniel Anderson’s commanding performance takes the audience on an emotional journey through the turbulent existence of the iconic artist.

From the very first note to the final chord, Vincent immerses the spectators in a world of passion and creativity, sparking a profound connection with Van Gogh’s timeless struggles and triumphs.

VINCENT, a multimedia musical, tells of a complex man with a ruthless drive to create and a deep-seated desire to love and be loved.

The show has enjoyed sold out seasons in all major centres in SA and most recently experienced a sold-out West End debut performance in London in August 2025.
