THK Gallery THK Gallery is a dynamic contemporary art gallery situated in the heart of Cape Town, South Africa.

THK Gallery was founded by German photographer and collector Frank Schรถnau in 2018, who was joined by auction veteran Linda Pyke in 2020. Working with established and emerging artists from Africa and the diaspora, as well as international artists, the gallery presents a diverse array of developing contemporary visual art forms. It contributes to the contemporary art discourse by showcasing, to a g

lobal audience, art that presents alternative perspectives and aesthetics to the status quo, in order to create new ways of seeing and thinking.

Part studio, part imagined world, Philip Emdeโ€™s space is inhabited by a cast of soft observers- Jocko, Lora, Coco and their companions- gathering quietly among paintings, objects and fragments of daily life. Sometimes they watch, sometimes they play, and sometimes they become part of the work itself.
With . ๐˜™๐˜Œ .. ๐˜๐˜–๐˜”๐˜Œ๐˜‹ ..., . Emdiland .. shifts into the gallery. The boundaries between studio, artwork and companion soften, inviting us into a world where everything seems gently alive- and always looking back.

Following presentations with THK Gallery in Cologne, Enter Art Fair 2025, and Investec Cape Town Art Fair 2026, this marks Emdeโ€™s first solo exhibition on the continent.

Weโ€™re so proud to be hosting a solo booth for our very own Tshepiso Moropa at Photo London starting tomorrow, 13 May.

Get to know her ahead of the fair.

Born in Johannesburg, Moropa (b. 1995) is a self-taught collage artist with a background in Psychology, Linguistics, and Research. Drawing from African historical archives, oral histories, and everyday photographic memory, she creates layered works that merge the personal and collective, reimagining the archive as a living space of possibility.
