Started watching this last night and it is really interesting. Seems like sub Saharan Africa is one of the only regions to have a rising birth rate alongside a few other countries like Yemen and Afghanistan. Almost without exception, every industrialized nation has a declining birth rate, not to be confused with total population growth. In other words, you can have a declining birth rate but still be experiencing a rise in your total population. Eventually it will reach a critical point once enough older people have died and not enough babies have been born to replace them and that number will start falling. The economic implications for the future are quite dire. If AI doesn’t destroy us first, that is.
