Hello Jo Ann 👋
“Jo Ann’s love affair with crochet began at the age of twelve, sitting beside her grandmother, learning to make squares with quiet concentration and growing pride. Those early stitches weren’t just practice—they were the first steps in a lifelong creative evolution.
After finishing high school, Jo-Ann entered the world of banking. It was structured, predictable, and secure—but it didn’t spark joy. So she pivoted, opening a bridal boutique in Paarl, where her eye for detail and love of beauty found a new outlet. Lace, tulle, and satin became her canvas, and she began to see how handmade artistry could shape a business.
When her husband was transferred to Johannesburg, Jo Ann embraced the move as a turning point. It was there that she took crochet and needlework seriously—not just as a hobby, but as a craft to master. Over the next 25 years, she upskilled relentlessly, diving into garment construction, pattern design, and the mathematics behind fit and form.
Today, Jo Ann creates bespoke crochet wearable art—pieces that are as expressive as they are elegant. Her work blends technical precision with imaginative flair, each design a reflection of her journey from banker to boutique owner to artisan. She’s not just making garments; she’s telling stories in yarn.”
Lets show Jo Ann some love in the comments…
