Blaq Ink ZA

Blaq Ink ZA Spoken Word Performing Artist| Songwriter| Rapper| Writer| Event Organizer| Author| I am a Poet/Spoken Word Performing Artist with 12+ years of experience.

I also write music/poetry for other artists as well. This all started when I was six years old, when my late grandfather bought me a notebook and a pen and said, "Express yourself, my son." Prophetic words indeed for I have been expressing myself since then. Came to Cape Town in 1996, not knowing that anything about "poetry" - I just knew I had an incredible writing ability. First professional per

formance was in 2004 at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), whena Norwegian artist ensemble visited campus. The response was phenomenal and I haven't looked back since then. I've performed across various stages and events, including but not limited to Grounding Sessions, Friday Jam Sessions, Ghetto Sessions (when still at Lookout Hill), Struggle Hip Hop & Poetry, ChosiChosi Poetry Sessions at UWC as well as Amazink Unplugged. Also did a performance on TV for Morning Live when the show aired from Hout Bay Harbour. Toured to Gqeberha for the official opening of Poetry Without Mics in 2018. Currently have six trackss to my credit, including two fatures. Working on my debut album which is set for release very soon. Watch this space!

I SHOULD'VE KNOWN BETTER (LESSON LEARNED)

I should've made sure that my feelings for herI fight
Fight them with all my strength and my might
All my might until I set my heart on a path that is right
Right in that it would not lead my heart being savagely torn apart
I should've done better

I should've used every trick in the book, I should've resisted
If necessary, I should have pretended like she never existed
I should've kown better than to give her all of my love
Better than to believe that she is sent from the heavens above
I should've know better, that she would hit me so hard as a fist without a glove

Now, here I am, with undisguisable brusies in my soul
Agony riddling my heart, almost making me a ghoul
I would've been better of as a friend
Anyways, lesson learned, from now until the end
I will know better
