by Tanja Truscott
The exhibition brings together a series of abstract drawings ranging from lively, gestural compositions to quieter, more deliberate works. Through abstraction, the works invite open-ended interpretation and encourage viewers to form their own personal responses.
Each piece is created on prepared paper coated with an alkyd layer, forming a barrier that prevents the oil paint from seeping into the surface.
Within the exhibition, two groupings emerge: iteration and stillness. Some works respond to external sources β from gardens to everyday packaging β while others focus on moments of pause, where intentional line and the movement of the hand guide the composition.
βWithout Wordsβ marks a conceptual shift in the Truscott's practice, pushing the work into new territory and embracing the challenges of a different way of drawing.
