Relive your playlists … theatre kid style!

2025 has been a big year! We’ve been workin’ 9 to 5, our Mondays have been manic, and we’ve all been UNDER PRESSURE. That’s why Spark in the Dark and Toneelhuis are, like, totally AMPED to bring you another instalment of Sparky-oke!

You stripped down for Raunchy-oke, you bloodied up for Spooky-oke, now it’s time to don your spandex and scrunchies … this karaoke night is dedicated to the totally tubular hits of the 1980s.

But wait, there’s more! The winner really does take it all because we’ll also be giving out prizes for best dressed and best song on the night!

Are you bugging out yet? Because we are! It’s time to celebrate good times, homeslices! See you there (and don’t space out - tickets are limited, so get bookin’)!

Spark in the Dark is a new theatre company with the mission to make MORE LIVE STORYTELLING, MORE OFTEN.

Five suspects. One therapist. Zero privacy.

When a crime shakes their world, five suspects share a single, unexpected link, their therapist.

As confessions become evidence, their deepest secrets are exposed - live and totally unfiltered - while their therapist delivers the verdict no one expected.

In this bold new Afrikaans production, therapy turns into a courtroom, where the truth is never simple and anyone could be guilty.

Written, Directed and performed by Dwayne Vorster.

Vorster is a Cape Town actor who’s previously performed on our stage in jade Ludski’s ‘Still Here. Nog Hier’ in June 2025.

Are you ready for a pharadigm shift? Let’s pharambulate on the pharameters of pharanormal South Africans together!

What is iPhara? And why are South Africans so Pharanoid?

Cape Town comedian, Ntobeko Ximba answers these questions in his debut one man show, aptly named Pharanoid. The show “Pharanoid” debuted at Baxter Theatre in 2025, then travelled to the National Arts Fest in Makhanda and has just returned from a run at Toyota Woordfees 2025, in Stellenbosch.

Ntobeko won a Standard Bank Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival 2024, as part of the creative team behind 32 Lavender Close. In 2023 and 2024, he also performed as part of the trio stand up show Proudly Problematic. He has performed at the Cape Town Comedy Club (RIP), Cape Town Funny Festival, and as far afield as the famous Laugh Factory in Los Angeles, California.

Directed by the visionary theatre-maker Andi Colombo, Pharanoid is a culmination of Ntobeko’s six years of stand-up comedy, and a hilarious and tightly-orchestrated reflection on being South African, from a silly yet thoughtful comedian. Frankly, his work, as Cue Online put it, is “sure to make you fall in love with dark humour”.

Audience feedback:

“Commentary about social class in SA was spot on, and your ability to improvise super impressive.”

“Sharp, quirky, tender, gorgeous”

Join award-winning performer Leah Mari for an evening of musical theatre, laughter and a few confessions in Off the Record — a warm, witty concert that pulls back the curtain on life as a young artist finding her voice.

At the start of a blossoming musical theatre career — and with plenty of stories already to tell — Leah shares the songs that shaped her and the moments that took her from backstage chaos to unexpected triumphs. Blending heart and humour, this candid night of melody and mischief features surprise guests, as Leah steps out of character and sings it like it is.

Leah Mari is a South African musical theatre performer and vocalist known for her expressive storytelling and rich stage presence. A graduate of the Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy (LAMTA), she made her professional debut as the alternate Maria in The Sound of Music (Pieter Toerien & Cape Town Opera, 2023/24) and went on to play Marta in the South African premiere of Stephen Sondheim’s Company (2024).

In 2025, Leah earned a Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, and most recently appeared as Go-To-Hell Kitty in CHICAGO the Musical (Showtime Management 2025).

With a background that spans acting, singing and composition, Leah is emerging as one of South Africa’s exciting new musical theatre voices — bringing honesty, humour and heart to every role and performance.
