Kirsten Veenstra grew up in Cape Town, where she was drawn to the photography and the performing arts as a scholar and student. After school, she completed a degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology at the University of Cape Town. Her career path took her to the UK and then back to South Africa, where she has worked as a Communications and Marketing Professional for the last 22 years. Ki
rsten has always had an interest in art and photography – her father was an award-winning professional photographer. As an adult, has taken art classes but has never studied art formally. She currently takes art lessons with artist Lucy Cobern. In her adult life, painting has been Kirsten’s her escape from her frenetic work life and her way to unwind and de-stress. As a passionate sailor and a lover of the outdoors and nature, Kirsten is drawn to landscapes and seascapes that grab her, as well as sailing scenes, as subject matter. She likes to paint realism in oil, or on the other side of the spectrum, mixed media abstracts.
