On a personal note. Some of our clients will know that our son battled Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma from age 15. He passed away on 19 March 2025, shortly after turning 18.

Ruben fought a tough battle. But he did so, with a continued positive attitude and determination to live every little bit of life that he could. He also reached out to other people battling Cancer. He did not mind getting up from his own chemo chair, to reach out to another human struggling. He showed up for healthy friends, and he showed up for new friends battling Cancer.

Earlier this year, one of the boys from his same Matric Class 2025 at DF Akademie, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his right arm. Niël Zeeman has a tough battle ahead of him. He turned 19, got his Matric results and his Cancer diagnosis all in the blink of an eye.

Ruben taught us how to SHOW UP.

At DF Akademie there is a Memorial garden in Ruben's name, as well as a Garden club. We are reaching out to the local communities to help us SHOW UP for Teenagers battling Cancer.

Wednesday, 20 May, 18:00 - 21:00, DF Akademie on Frans Conradie.

Every year we want to host a fundraising evening stroll on the school grounds with its beautiful gardens. It is called LIG LOOP. It is a 2,5km stroll at your own pace with food stalls along the route. Entrance is only R25pp and helps to raise funds for Niël's Cancer battle.

Bring your flash light, fairy lights or glow sticks. Dress warm, comfortable and make it a family outing. Walk for someone you love who battled Cancer or who is still battling Cancer.
