The Hollywood African Cinema Connection (HACC) Festival is opening a one-week submission fee waiver for filmmakers across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia from 18–25 May 2026.
As part of our ongoing commitment to increasing access and amplifying bold, independent voices from the Global South, filmmakers can submit one film free of charge during this limited waiver period.
While we are particularly interested in strong feature films for our Opening and Closing Night screenings, submissions are not limited to features. We welcome films across all formats and genres, including:

📽️ Documentaries
🤖 AI Films & Experimental Media
✨ Animation
We are looking for compelling stories, innovative voices, and cinematic works with local relevance and global resonance.

While editing Hip Hop Revolution,
Weaam Williams was nursing her first born child.

Being a new mother while making and editing her first documentary wasn't easy, but she did it anyway.

Some stories only get made when You refuse to wait for "the right time."

Hip Hop Revolution subsequently won the Best Edited Film Award from Spike Lee at REEL
Sisters.

The editing for this ground breaking piece of work was a team effort which also included Nafia Kocks, Ebenhaezer Smal and Mark Anthony Duckitt.
