Meet the Team: Robin Shuttleworth

Robin’s professional audio career spans 45 years.
From touring the country with the international artists of the time, during the heyday of the iconic 3 Arts Theatre, he moved on to the Performing Arts Councils, working with Theatre Consultants and forming functional Sound Departments. It was during his tenure at the Natal Playhouse that he became an integral part of the South African Musical Theatre scene, collaborating with the late Geoffrey Sutherland and designing the Sound on top productions such as Queen at the Opera, JC Superstar, Sweeny Todd and many more. The pinnacle of his career was his appointment as Sound HOD to Singapore’s state-of-the-art The Esplanade Theatres On The Bay, host to the world’s premium performers, where he worked closely with major audio manufacturers to create and improve their products.
There he also established and lectured his Sound Course for Singaporean technicians.
After 15 incredible years at The Esplanade he returned to Cape Town where he continues to teach future Sound Technicians.

Meet the Team: Cara Dowling

Cara’s 35 year sound career began when she fell into an audio job after completing a Diploma in Stage Management, and has never looked back! Finding her niche in operating, she has operated the sound at festivals and corporates, on cabarets, plays and, particularly, theatre musicals.
Cara has been fortunate to work with some top international Sound Designers, operating the sound on major productions at home, abroad and on tour. Shows include Matilda (SA and China Tour); Jersey Boys (SA and Asia tour); Priscilla Queen of the Desert (SA and HK); Mamma Mia!; Jesus Christ Superstar (SA, Athens, South Korea); Ghost – The Musical (Australia); African Footprint (SA, USA, Mexico, Germany, India); Kat and the Kings; Chicago; Offbeat Broadway 1 – 5 (SA, Zimbabwe, Namibia); Ultimate Broadway (Shanghai); Spirit of the Dance; Showboat; Cabaret; West Side Story and many more. She is passionate about growing more quality Sound Operators in this country. She has presented audio workshops at University of Stellenbosch, Artscape and in Langebaan for the West Coast Youth Orchestra.

Meet the Team: Morné Krüger

Morné holds a BA Degree in Motion Picture Medium from AFDA where he specialised in Sound Design. With over 7 years of experience in both live and studio sound, Morné has worked on various films and theatre productions including; Evita, West Side Story, Wizard of Oz, Matilda The Musical International Tour as well as conferences and variety shows. Morné is based in Cape Town, South Africa but can also be found touring the world with productions or on cruise liners.
