Onvoltooide huiswerk, snotneusies, deurmekaar boksterte, babas wat skreeu, die reuk van gebrande pap, jannieverjaar koppies, gevlekte matte, stink skoene wat rondlê, en die finale getoet van mammie se motor. Wanneer 'n oorwerkte nasorg juffrou haar 'cool' verloor, sluit sy agt wroklose nasorg leerders toe met wilde reperkussies. Wat gebeur met die brein as die liggaam ingeperk is?

Na maande se repetisies is die NovieKidz Gene Louw ensemble gereed om die planke aan te durf, hierdie saterdag by die ATKV Tjokkertoneel by Hoërskool Durbanville se ouditorium. 🎭

We are very proud of the following four drama learners from NovieKidz (Gene Louw Primary School) for their achievements at the 2022 KKNK DRAMAWEB SA competition. Marinell Wolmarans, Matthew Louw, Leila Palvi and Khloe Hanekom submitted their selected poetry and / or prose pieces by video earlier this year for the annual KKNK Dramaweb SA competition founded by the well-known actress Ira Blankenberg. All four learners have been chosen to be in the Top 10 for grades 2-4 (Afrikaans). These drama learners are led and coached by actress Nina Smit from NovieKidz- who has been hosting weekly drama workshops for Gene Louw learners for more than five years - she also coached these learners individually for their entries to the competition. These learners’ video entries were carefully selected from among hundreds in the popular online drama competition, and finalists will battle it out on-stage during the national finals during a live broadcast on Sunday 19 June 2022 on the Klein Karoo National Art Festival’s (KKNK) YouTube channel and website. The finals are broadcasted live on the KKNK Dramaweb SA website at kknk.co.za/dramaweb-sa and the judges will evaluate the live performance. This exciting process attracted around 15 000 viewers during last year’s final! We are also looking forward to many NovieKidz learners' performances at the annual Tygerberg International Eisteddfod, as well as their entry - a play titled ROERMAL for the first official ATKV Tjokkertoneel Competition! Congratulations to the four Top 10 finalists from NovieKidz (Gene Louw Primary) for KKNK Dramaweb SA 2022! These talented learners are coached by Nina Smit.

This exciting process attracted around 15 000 viewers during last year’s final!

The judges are very impressed with this year’s KKNK Dramaweb SA entries which were received from across the country, says Ira Blanckenberg founder and convenor of the competition, which is run in partnership with the KKNK.

“It was lovely once again – having of course carefully evaluated all elements, to provide constructive feedback – to judge this year’s work and choose the finalists. The fact remains: our country is filled with talented aspirant actors!” she says.

“The goal of KKNK Dramaweb SA remains the same: we want to hone the skills of young actors and teach them valuable skills through the competition which they can take on their journey ahead and add to their personal arsenal, such as self-confidence, creative thinking, communication skills, and discipline.”

The competition is open to both English and Afrikaans participants in various divisions, including undramatised poem and/or prose, prepared reading, monologue and even mimicry.
