Sometimes we're on da-fence mode 😄

Super happy how this project came out, this was our last one of 2025. Clients wanted a tall, modern and clean privacy fence with a pedestrian and sliding gate. I collaborated with KayGee Securty to manufacture the steel frames, hinges and brackets, ensuring the gates are strong and durable.

The Kyoto bed, a classic Japanese design.

Minimal and balanced, this king size bed is made from solid Ash. The floating design helps to create a feeling of openness and intrigue.

The 4 mitres in the corners of the frame are strengthened with a spline joint, abit of contrast being thrown in there with the dark hardwood. Finished with Osmo top oil .africa

A slightly updated version of the 8 seater table and benches I designed and made a few years ago.

This one includes two diagonal braces that extend up from the stretcher under the table top (photo #3). These little members make a huge difference in structural support and dramatically reduce the wobble.

Made from Industrial Pine that has been planed all round (PAR), ideal for the outdoors. It's been sanded and left raw for the client to decide upon a preservative.

Many thanks to Francisco, a very capable furniture maker, for his great effort in helping make this piece.

Cladding, cladding and more cladding..

After being involved with building some of these structures, it's great to be putting on their final skin. Something that will withstand the elements and blend in with the environment.

Hardwood Garapa has been chosen, with rebated edges and hidden fixtures to keep a clean look.

P.S. don't judge the temporary ladder scaffs 😅

The words mean "flying stones" and these basic forms come together creating a modern yet quiet piece.

Made from solid Chestnut, stained and then finished with Osmo top oil.

Oh wonderful Yellowwood, what an pleasure to work with you and shape you.

These nested coffee tables came about after a friend trimmed their tree (see last pic) and asked me to somehow make furniture from the massive branch.

This beauty is situated on what once was the Dodds farm in Walmer, Port Elizabeth, meaning it's reeeeally old and probably amoungst the first planted in this town.

The tri-angular powder coated steel bases, which I made with the help of my father's welder, gives these top heavy tables alot more stability.

Finished with a blend of polywax sealer, natural oils and waxes.

Another staircase job with two landings done and dusted. This one proved to be quite a challenge because we had to build over the angled raised bed.
The extra wide treads are seated into routered grooves in the stringers, creating a sturdy and neat construction.
The built up posts are floating on stainless steel rods which have been concreted into the ground, allowing water to pass under them.

It is a great sense of relief and reward when the pieces all come together and you realise the mathematics all worked out. Spot onn!
