đ§ The More You Learn, The Worse Your Mixes Sound đ
Crazy, right? But itâs real.
You learn more, your ear improves, your understanding deepens but suddenly, your new mixes start sounding worse than the ones you made when you barely knew anything.
Itâs not that youâre falling off. Itâs that Your ears and brain now notice way more detail. You hear issues you didnât before, masking, phase, muddiness, harshness so now you notice flaws that once passed by unnoticed.
But your technical ex*****on hasnât fully caught up to your new level of hearing, so thereâs a temporary âgap.â Thatâs totally normal and temporary.
Ever listened to your old mixes and be like Yo, this actually sounds more open than what Iâm doing now. đ
Well itâs because you are overthinking everything now EQ, compression, levels and eventually losing the feel ending up with a flat song.
So this is how you can start closing that gap,
1. Trust your ears more than your eyes
2. Mix faster following the vibe, not perfection
3. Use fewer plugins, more intention
4. Take breaks to reset your ears and perspective
If youâre in that phase, donât quit. Youâre not getting worse youâre growing into the engineer or creative your taste has already become.
Keep working, keep listening, and let your skill catch up to your vision. đ„
