Open Mic @ Out & About Boksburg is on again!

Announcing our feature artist for this week:

🔥 André Charl Barnard

At every open mic we host here we aim to showcase a feature artist on the evening, to shine a spotlight on some awesome musicians to take note of! And so there will always be something special to look forward to.

The stage is then open to anyone who would like to come join in and share some music with us!

Come and check it out and join in on some jamming!

We will be opening the stage from 7pm.

Meet your host...

The dude who's name begins with "R", and therefore seemingly decided to call his solo project: R 🤭

R - Music

He had one job,
Comb his hair,
Arrive on time,
Plug in,
Sound check,
Press record.

He skipped a couple of these steps, namely the combing and arriving, but more or less nearly did a good enough job... He remains employed for now... 🧐

Here is a snippet from his sound check, whereby the "Press record" of audio step had not yet been attended to, and so forgive the noisy room noise here where we only had video cam footage.

We did manage to record audio for all the other artists that jammed in the evening, and so are able to layer in that audio in to the video footage we will be sharing. This is something we shall endeavour to continue doing, so that we can supply the muso's who join, with some decent reference and/or demo material to take on further into their musical journey! Sommer just because!

The evening also saw a visit from a local legend, Lance Erskine of Lazarus Johnston!!!

With his keys, tickling the tiny hairs on the eardrums of the listeners...

Its easy to find oneself drifting off in a bit of a hypnotic gaze listening to him do his thing.

Heavily inspired by psychedelic rock, and with a gift for telling stories through his music that will transport your imagination, he shared with us what I could describe as "waves of synthy kind of synthwave"...

Here is a snippet of his set, once again, straight from soundcheck into upper atmospheric destination outer space 🫠

THEN! 🤯 Hows about this for another example of launching straight from soundcheck into musical listening bliss?!

There were quite some rowdy tables having a jol near the stage, but its as if he just tuned us noisy ones out and zoned in.

It was an "At soundcheck, mind already blown" kinda show!

Thanks to all who joined and made our debut Open Mic @ Out & About so special!!!

We were extremely blessed to have the likes of some very epic muso's pop in.

Have started going through some of the footage, whereby will be sharing some clips of the SUPER AWESOME performances we had over the next week or so.

For now, here is a taster of the Feature artist we showcased on the evening - Charles Harris, showing you what I mean when I say already at soundcheck things were looking pretty good!

I had placed an additional "Foot cam" on stage, and didn't realise that Charlie's Face would be blocked 🙈😅 Good thing we came more to listen than to look! And fear not there is more footage of his actual handsome face to follow soon...
