Today we pause… and we remember the sound and the voice of it.
Ladybird came as the word.
Not loud — but lasting
Not rushed — but rooted
Each line…
a step closer to truth.
Each pause… a moment we had to feel.
And then — Azania Indigenous Voices rose as the echo.
Not behind the story — but within it.
A sound that carried...
a sound that held…
a sound that said:
you are not alone in this.
Where the story broke — you softened it.
Where the story trembled — you steadied it.
Where the story needed breath — you became it.
Word… and then sound. Voice… and then chorus.
A rhythm that moved through the work
like a heartbeat we could all hear.
This was not a moment beside the production — this was the pulse of it
Thank you, Ladybird Mou-Tee Mpota
Thank you, Azania Indigenous Choir, For the way you carried the story… for the way you honoured it… for the way you let it live onstage as well as beyond the stage.
