The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), in partnership with Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), the University of South Africa (Unisa), and the Linguistic Society of Southern Africa (LSSA), continues to invite young writers and changemakers to participate in the Emerging Voices Essay Writing Competition.

As South Africa marks 50 years since the Soweto Uprising, young people are encouraged to share their perspectives on language, identity, memory, resistance, and the future of South Africa through creative essay writing.

Competition Categories:

• Category A: High School Learners (Grades 8–12)

• Category B: Young Creatives & Youth Professionals (18–35 years)
