Umdlalo wase Bethlehem is hosting its 1st annual event today (24-05-2026) at the Showground, Bethlehem.

We were told that the event is about the cleanest taxi and that it is also a charity event.
That is the difference between yesterday’s event at Voortrekker School and today’s event at Showground.
Please learn.

There were no sponsorship banners at the Showground apart from a Goldwagen gazebo and maybe a few others we might have missed.

Our experience is that the organizers might have requested sponsorships, but only one or two companies responded.

The taxi industry spends a lot of money on fuel, services, spares, licensing, repairs, and many other things. At least the following companies should have sponsored the event:
* Engen
* Sasol
* Shell
* Midas
* Ismails
* Diesel Electric
* Silverton
* Battery Centre
* Bethlehem Spares, etc.
Motswako Production has sponsored the Bethlehem taxi industry in the past.
All this will be over one day. It just takes bravery.
Let’s start on the 16th of June 2026. Young people have the ability to change things.
We invite all businesses to help us.

This is the setup at Voortrekker school, Bethlehem for the upcoming derby tomorrow (23 May 2026) between Voortrekker and Witterberg school. Apparently, they are expecting about 8,000 people, parents included. The game will be broadcast live.

Look at the sponsors.
Why can’t we do the same for township children and businesses? We have begged, prayed, and still nothing.
Youth Day is coming on 16 June 2026.

We are trying to help our people understand the importance of supporting one another, especially youth in business.

Business people and entrepreneurs from the townships are resilient. They built their businesses outside the system, and many are still trading today.
Why are we not creating our own system? You don't need school to do that.

Motswako Production was built outside the system, which is why we are still classified as an SMME even after 25 years. Imagine where we would be if we had been part of a functioning system. Imagine if township businesses had proper structures and support systems.

Understand the necessity of a functioning government. We need the government.

We do not have a system, and worse, we are not even bothered about building one. This does not need schooling to be understood.

We leave it to you to make a decision.

This is worth sharing. Let’s apply our minds to this list. We should try to understand many things, including why we are...

This is worth sharing.
Let’s apply our minds to this list. We should try to understand many things, including why we are where we are today.

Shoprite is the number one employer in Africa!
There are no manufacturing companies, no agriculture, no government departments, and no entertainment companies on the list.

What are the key drivers of employment in other continents?

We should really debate this.

There are young people out there with talent, hunger, and ability. Find out what’s wrong and start fixing it. Find out what people are prepared to pay you for and do it.

Yes, sometimes you may feel down and hopeless, but we are not hopeless people. We have been through too much to give up.

The sad truth is that no one is coming to save us unless we save ourselves.

Stand up, young people.
All this will be over one day, you have to believe that.

Update!
Youth Day : 16 June 2026 - Bohlokong township, Bethlehem.

We are pleading with brave young people to help identify both prospective and successful individuals in Bohlokong Township, by section, street, or suburb, who can contribute towards the funding and development of young people.

We will request "The News Spot" to publish the names of people whom we believe should be approached to assist young people through business support, mentorship, sponsorships, and other opportunities. We will also share their responses.

We cannot continue leaving our young people behind. It is painful to witness the increasing number of youths who become desperate and eventually lose hope and direction. Something has to be done, now.

This might sound controversial, but it will make sense soon.
We are faced with a system that most of us find difficult to emulate.

We are still waiting to hear your suggestions and inputs on economic opportunities that can be created during the planned event on 16 June 2026. As previously mentioned, we need to raise a minimum of R50 000 through donations and sponsorships.

Please share your thoughts.

Youth Day – 16 June 2026 Communication

We aim to raise a minimum of R50,000, which will be used to support youth businesses. This includes the purchase of raw materials for food preparation, stipends, refreshments, prizes, and other related needs.

Unless something drastic is done, nothing will change, we will continue fighting the same battles over and over again.

We urge the young people of Bohlokong, Bethlehem to stand up. Compile a list of successful individuals within Bohlokong Township and engage them to contribute towards youth development.

There are more than five Black doctors operating in Bohlokong. There are several companies doing business in Bohlokong township and the community supports them wholeheartedly. There is also a private school that parents continue to support without hesitation. In addition, there is one particular church which made millions through spiritual crusades in Bohlokong township, supported by the community.

We also have business people, directors, principals, and other professionals.
Make a list of these individuals and institutions, and formally request their financial support.

Motswako Production will provide equipment free of charge for the benefit of young people.
If we can do it, why can’t others do the same? Yes, it is a choice, and we choose to build.

We encourage everyone to contribute ideas and practical solutions.
Please comment with your suggestions.
