So this week I took the big decision to jump ship. I worked with Cakewalk since 1984 when it was just a MIDI sequencer. The transition to audio was a revolution. Through every turn and downside I stuck with them. In the whole Gibson period I fell for the licence forever scam. First time I learned the lesson that the licencing model which all software companies follow now is a scam. After Gibson took our money they sold the software to Bandlab - without the licenses. That made it virtually useless. Lucky Bandlab continued to provide free licences, but increasingly it became a drag and the software just got worse.
Fast forward to this weekend. Cakewalk Sonar was not able to play through a single song without a dropout every few seconds.
I got fed up and jumped.
Where to you may ask?
Well, like probably 90% of Cakewalk users I moved to
Studio One
Presonus has a history of scamming users, and I got scammed as I signed up. The advert said, special at $139. But I got billed at $199. Last time they scammed me with Notion 5. Said it was a perpetual license. When I wanted to register Notion on my new computer they simply said they do not allow registration of older versions. Yeah that is perpetual? Studio One is advertised as subscription for 1 year and keep forever there after. Well I know what that keep forever mean!
Any way. I am now transferring all my project to Studio one. Lucky there is this little program written by AZslow that really speed this up, but it still take a bit of effort learning the new software.
See you all and keep on keeping on.
