The Kidz Nook at The Village Green
Imagination takes center stage at the 2026 Bathurst Bookfair. The Kidz Nook is a weekend-long hub designed for young readers to create, play, and explore. From puppet shows to cupcake decorating, every hour offers a new way to engage with stories.

The Theme: Come dressed as your favorite book character! Whether you’re a hero, a villain, or a creature from a far-off land, we want to see Bathurst filled with living stories.

The Art of the Hand: Calligraphy with Helen Averbuch
Beyond the printed word lies the beauty of the stroke. As part of the 2026 Bathurst Bookfair, we invite you to slow down and rediscover the elegance of handwritten script in an intimate, focused workshop led by Port Alfred artist Helen Averbuch.

Known for her work as a sculptor and teacher at ArtShip, Helen brings a deep understanding of form and patience to her practice. Whether she is guiding students through complex sculptures or the delicate flow of a calligraphy pen, her approach is centered on quiet concentration and artistic growth.

This session at The Old Little Theatre (on The Village Green) provides the guidance and tools to master the deliberate flow of ink. It is a space to find your own rhythm under the mentorship of one of our region’s most dedicated creative voices.

Calling all young artists and readers! We're excited to host a creative Bookmark Making workshop at this year's Bathurst Bookfair! 🎨📚 On Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM, kids can let their imaginations run wild and design their very own personalized bookmarks for just R40!

We'll provide a variety of movie and book-themed characters, along with all the art materials and decorations needed. We would love for your child to join in the fun and create a one-of-a-kind keepsake. 💖
