Today was nothing short of UNBELIEVABLE! 😭💙

The Boland Chamber Choir had the absolute honour of welcoming the world-renowned Stellenbosch University Choir for a truly unforgettable musical experience! 🌍🎶

What happened today was bigger than just music. It was about sharing joy, creating memories, building bridges and celebrating the power of choral music together. 🤝🏽🎵

From the very first note to the final applause, the atmosphere was electric! 🔥 The fun, the laughter, the music, the energy and those unforgettable moments we created together will remain in our hearts for a very long time. 🥹💙

A very special thank you to Andrè van der Merwe, Conductor of the Stellenbosch University Choir, for the love and acknowledgement shown towards our young singers. Your kind words and the way you spoke so highly of the performance by the Boland Chamber Choir meant more to us than words can ever express. 🙏🏽🎶

Beyond the Music: Building Young Leaders 🌸

From 13–17 July 2026, two of our remarkable choir members, Azabukwe Lifa and Minentle Tshazwa, had the honour of serving as facilitators during the Girls Camp 2026 – Know Your Worth, held at Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve, McGregor.

At Boland Chamber Choir, we believe our purpose extends far beyond the concert stage. While we are passionate about choral excellence, we are equally committed to developing young people who lead with confidence, integrity and compassion. Seeing Azabukwe and Minentle contribute to a programme that empowers young women is a proud reflection of the values we cultivate within our choir.

The camp encouraged girls to discover their worth, protect their identity, embrace who they are and grow into confident young leaders. Opportunities like these shape lives, strengthen communities and remind us that true leadership begins with service.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Zolani6715 GBV Ambassadors for organising such a powerful and impactful initiative. Thank you for investing in the lives of young women and for creating safe spaces where they can learn, grow and realise their full potential.

What a privilege it was for the Boland Chamber Choir to be part of such a meaningful Youth Day celebration in Montagu.

Our heartfelt thanks to every organiser, volunteer, sponsor, stakeholder, and participant who made the day such a great success. It was inspiring to see young people learning, laughing, creating, and growing through the many activities and empowering presentations.
We are especially grateful for the opportunity to share our music and contribute to a day that celebrated hope, unity, and the future of our youth. Moments like these remind us that music has the power to encourage, connect, and inspire communities.

Farewell, Mr. Odwa Mvunge. 🕊️🎼

We bid farewell to more than a conductor - we honour a visionary, a mentor, a teacher, and a servant of music whose influence will continue to echo through generations.

As the Founder and Conductor of Zolani Youth Choir, Mr. Odwa Mvunge dedicated his life to nurturing voices, shaping character, and proving that music has the power to transform lives. His leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment inspired countless young musicians, not only within his own choir but across the choral community.

For us at Boland Chamber Choir, he was a figure we deeply admired. We looked up to him as a mentor whose guidance and encouragement played a significant role in our journey. The growth we have experienced as a choir carries the fingerprints of his influence. We are who we are today because he chose to invest in others with such generosity and excellence.

His impact reached far beyond rehearsals and performances. Through his craft, he elevated South African choral music and helped showcase its beauty on the global stage. His legacy is not merely found in awards or concerts, but in every singer he believed in, every life he touched, and every heart he inspired.

To the Mvunge family, the Zolani Youth Choir family, friends, colleagues, and everyone mourning this immeasurable loss, may you find comfort in knowing that his life's work will never be forgotten. We mourn with you, we honour him with you, and we celebrate a life that was truly devoted to music and to people.

The Boland Chamber Choir would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sanibona for the invitation to be part of their Career Day Fair.

Our conductor, Luthando Klaas, together with our choir administrator, Yolanda Klaas, had the wonderful opportunity to engage with Grade 9–12 learners and share insights into the music industry, its opportunities, challenges, and the many career paths available within it.

What made the day truly special was seeing young minds eager to learn, ask questions, and discover how music can be more than a passion - it can also be a profession. From discussing performance and leadership to arts administration, entrepreneurship, and community impact, the conversations were both educational and inspiring.

The experience was filled with learning, laughter, meaningful interactions, and memorable moments. We left encouraged by the enthusiasm and potential of the young people we met, and we hope that our contribution helped spark new dreams and possibilities.

Thank you to everyone who made the day such a success. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our journey and to advocate for the importance of music and the arts in shaping confident, creative, and empowered young people.

Music opens doors, builds confidence, creates opportunities, and connects people. We were honoured to share that message with the next generation.

On 16 June 2026, the Boland Chamber Choir had the honour of being part of the Voices for Change event at Nqubela Community Hall, hosted by the Zolani GBV Ambassadors.

We are deeply grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to use music as a voice for awareness, healing, and hope in the fight against Gender-Based Violence. It was a privilege to stand alongside individuals and organizations committed to creating positive change in our communities.

Thank you to the organizers for trusting us with this important platform, and to everyone who attended and engaged with the message of the day. Through music, poetry, and storytelling, we were reminded that our voices can inspire change and bring people together.

As Boland Chamber Choir, we remain committed to using music not only to entertain but also to educate, uplift, and advocate for a better future.

What a note to remember… 🎶

This past weekend, the Boland Chamber Choir took part in a truly enriching choral journey at the ATKV-SuidOosterfees competition in Cape Town. Standing on that stage was more than just a performance, it was a moment of growth, courage, and musical storytelling.

We did not just sing, we listened, we learned, and we grew.

Our choristers experienced the importance of discipline behind every harmony and discovered new depth in blending their voices as one. They began to understand what it truly means to perform with intention, not just sound. Each moment on that stage contributed to their development, both as individuals and as a united choir.

One of the most exciting highlights for our children was finally seeing the Stellenbosch University Choir perform live. They were completely blown away by the richness, precision, and power of the sound. The excitement was undeniable, and for many of them, it sparked a deeper desire to reach that level of excellence one day.

We were also privileged to receive valuable feedback from the adjudicators. Their insights and guidance have given us a clearer understanding of where we are and where we need to go, and this will play a vital role in helping us refine and strengthen our craft moving forward.

Every note we sang carried the effort of rehearsals, the nerves of the moment, and the passion we have for music. This experience has sharpened our vision and strengthened our hunger to grow even further.

To our incredible parents, this journey was possible because of you. Your commitment, your sacrifices, and your constant support ensured that each child could attend, participate, and experience something truly meaningful. We are deeply grateful for everything you do.

This is not the end of the song, it is only the beginning of a stronger and more beautiful journey ahead.

We are proud to share that the Boland Chamber Choir has been selected to take part in the ATKV Suidoosterfees Choir Competition at ArtsCape. This is more than just a performance; it is a powerful competition that will offer us growth, exposure, and a chance to represent our community on a prestigious stage.

To make this journey possible, we are kindly asking for assistance with:
• Transport to and from ArtsCape
• Catering for 30 choir members for the day

Your support will not only help us get to the stage but will also contribute to each singer’s confidence, development, and future opportunities. Many of our members come from backgrounds where such chances are rare, and this competition can be a turning point.

We believe in the power of music to bring change, build unity, and give young voices a platform. With your help, we can grow, represent with pride, and make a lasting impact.
