Mosaic is... DIALOGUE

Mosaic exists in the space between things.

Between light and matter.
Between the artwork and the architecture that surrounds it.
Between a centuries-old language and the possibility of making it contemporary.

But there is another dialogue, quieter and less visible.

The one between eye, hand and time.

The eye observes.
The hand interprets.
Time allows every tessera to find its place.

Slowly. Patiently. Intentionally.

Because mosaic is never a solitary gesture.

It is a conversation - between what has been inherited, what surrounds us, and what is still waiting to take form.

How do you create order without making the structure visible?

In mosaic, what appears spontaneous is often governed by precise rules.
For the black background of the Nazar Holdings mosaic, the composition draws on the traditional ""fondo interrotto"" - a technique built around an underlying rhythm of horizontal and vertical lines.

The structure is there, but it is never allowed to become explicit.

Lines are continuously interrupted. Directions shift. The tesserae resist forming a visible grid, while preserving an underlying sense of orthogonality.
It is a balance between rule and irregularity.
Between control and apparent freedom.

A structure designed not to be seen, but to be perceived.
Because in mosaic, order does not always need to reveal itself.

What if mosaic became part of your space?

Not simply as decoration, but as a material presence shaped around the space it inhabits.

At G2 Italian Mosaic, every work can begin with a different idea: a colour, a surface, an atmosphere, a detail worth translating into matter.

From one-of-a-kind artworks to bespoke architectural compositions, each mosaic is conceived individually and handcrafted in Italy, tessera by tessera.

Your space. Your vision. A mosaic made for you.

At G2 Italian Mosaic, every commissioned work begins with trust.
The trust of translating identity into matter.
We are deeply honoured to have been entrusted with the creation of the mosaic interpretation of the logo for Nazar Holdings - an internationally recognised holding distinguished by its presence in the world of luxury automotive excellence and high-profile business ventures.

For our atelier, reinterpreting through mosaic the symbol of such a prominent and visionary group represents both a privilege and a meaningful responsibility.
Entirely handcrafted in Italy, the work transforms the logo into a material composition shaped by rhythm, precision, and permanence - values that resonate deeply with our own vision of craftsmanship.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Nazar Holdings for the trust placed in our studio and for allowing our work to become part of their story.

[Mosaic is... TECHNIQUE]

Mosaic has its own grammar.

Rules of composition.
Orders of form.
Methods refined through centuries of practice.

Technique is not simply the ability to place a tessera.

It is knowing how each tessera relates to the next. How direction shapes form. How rhythm creates movement. How matter, colour and light become part of the same language.

A body of knowledge passed down through generations, where every gesture carries what came before it.

Because before mosaic can become expression, its language must be understood.

[Inside the Process: the chromatic range]

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄?

More than yellow itself.
In mosaic, colour is one of the fundamental tools for creating volume. And when the subject is a yellow Ferrari, constructing the right chromatic range becomes particularly delicate.

Yellow has a remarkably narrow perceived tonal range: too little variation and the surface appears flat; too much, and it quickly loses its brilliance. The solution is not simply to make yellow darker.
Light moves through lemon yellow, pale yellow and ivory, reaching almost-white accents at the brightest reflections.
Midtones introduce pure, golden and warmer yellows.
And as the bodywork moves into shadow, the palette expands into ochres, mustard tones and golden earths, with occasional hints of green.

Colours that may seem unexpected in isolation become essential when brought together.

Because reproducing a colour does not mean repeating it. It means understanding everything that exists within it.

HALA KAZIM PORTRAIT
Smalti, ecosmalti, gold
35 × 40 cm

In mosaic portraiture, likeness is only the beginning.

What gives a face its depth, balance and expression is something less immediately visible: the andamento.

The andamento is the intentional flow of the tesserae across the surface. It follows the anatomy of the face, gently adapting to every curve of the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Through this continuous rhythm, a perfectly flat surface begins to suggest volume, light and movement.

As the anatomy changes, so does the direction of the tesserae. These transitions are almost imperceptible, yet they are what allow the portrait to breathe with naturalness and harmony.

Every tessera is placed with purpose.

Because in mosaic, expression is not painted. It is built.

Mosaic is... SURFACE

A mosaic does not simply cover a surface.
It becomes the surface.

Wall, floor, vault or dome: the architecture itself becomes part of the work, giving matter a new identity through light, texture and rhythm. Rather than being applied to a space, mosaic belongs to it.

Because every tessera contributes to shaping not only an image, but the very skin of architecture.

𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘭𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦?

This is one of the fundamental questions of mosaic. The answer is never a single element.
Not colour alone. Not the direction of the tesserae. Not even the material itself.
In the 488 Pista, volume emerges from the dialogue between them.

Ferrari yellow extends far beyond yellow itself. Warm ochres, earthy browns and deep blacks build a tonal structure that allows light and shadow to shape the bodywork.

The andamento follows every curve, strengthening the geometry of the car and guiding the eye naturally across the composition.

Behind it all, a continuous self-levelling cement surface remains deliberately silent, allowing the fragmented texture of the mosaic to become the true source of depth.

Nothing works in isolation.

Colour.
Direction.
Matter.

Only when they act together does a flat surface begin to feel three-dimensional.

Mosaic is... CARE

Every tessera begins with a decision.
Its colour. Its cut. Its position.

Nothing is accidental. Every element is considered in relation to the next, until individual gestures become a coherent whole.

In mosaic, care is both technical and contemplative.
It demands precision, but also patience. It teaches the value of slowing down, of observing before acting, of allowing time to become part of the work itself.

Because every mosaic is ultimately shaped by the quality of the attention devoted to it.
