🇮🇪🌹Westmeath Rose Caoilfhinn Ní Choiligh, 25, from Mullingar, has been crowned the 2026 Rose of Tralee. Caoilfhinn works in retail while studying to become a wig maker, inspired by her experience of losing her hair to alopecia at 15. After receiving her sash from 2025 Rose Katelyn Cummins, she was welcomed into Tralee town centre by thousands of people, with Midnight Madness celebrations and fireworks. She will now spend the next year travelling throughout Ireland and internationally, representing the Rose of Tralee Festival. 🌹🇮🇪

🎭🎶The Galway International Arts Festival 2026 brought the city to life with an exciting programme of theatre, music, visual arts, comedy, dance and street performances. Celebrating creativity and culture from Ireland and around the world, the festival transformed Galway into a vibrant hub of entertainment, attracting artists and audiences to venues and streets across the city. 🎭🎶🇮🇪

🎨☘️Miriam Innes, born in Mayo, Ireland, in 1979, is an internationally award-winning artist now based in Queensland, Australia. Her work explores heritage, place and memory, drawing on the connection between her Irish roots and life abroad. Miriam Innes’ exhibition “22.96 │ Overflow” opened at Ballina Civic Centre in County Mayo, Ireland, in collaboration with Ballina Arts Centre, bringing the story of the devastating 2022 Mary River floods in Gympie, Queensland. Curated by Miriam Innes, alongside artists Joolie Gibbs & Leeory Todd, the exhibition uses installation, drawing, film and digital media to explore themes of loss, resilience, recovery and the enduring connection between people, place and water across two river communities.

🏛️ Queen’s Wharf Precinct Heritage Tour 🇮🇪🇦🇺

What a wonderful heritage experience today, 18 August, with Queensland Irish Association & The Royal Historical Society of Queensland. Millions of thanks for organising such a fascinating experience. 💚

A special two-hour guided walk led by the amazing tour guides Fiona and Lisa, exploring the fascinating story of Brisbane’s earliest days and the people, buildings and events that helped shape the city from its colonial beginnings.

📍 Places and heritage sites explored included:

* 🏛️ Commissariat Store Museum – one of Brisbane’s oldest surviving buildings and the starting and finishing point of the tour.
* 🏢 Former DPI Building / Immigration Depot – Brisbane’s immigrant accommodation depot for more than 30 years, built in 1865–66.
* 🖨️ Former Government Printing Office – an important part of Brisbane’s colonial government history.
* 🪚 Site of Pettigrew’s Sawmill – once one of Brisbane’s major industries.
* 🏛️ Queensland Parliament House – an important landmark in Queensland’s political history.
* 🏨 The Queensland Club – one of Brisbane’s significant historic institutions.
* 🏦 Treasury Building – a magnificent heritage building with a fascinating history, now home to a heritage hotel.
* 🌳 Queens Gardens – a beautiful heritage-listed park in the heart of Brisbane, developed from the early 1900s onwards.

The tour brought to life stories of Brisbane’s convict era, colonial government, immigration, commerce and community life, offering a wonderful insight into the city’s beginnings.

🎶 Belfast Fleadh Cheoil 2026 🇮🇪
Official figures show that more than 1.65 million people attended Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Belfast in 2026, more than double the initial estimate of 800,000 visitors, making it a record-breaking celebration of Irish music and culture.
For the first time, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann was held in Belfast from 2–9 August 2026, bringing Irish traditional music, song, dance and language to the city.
Organised by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, the week featured 200+ events and more than 180 competitions, alongside concerts, pub sessions, street performances, céilithe, workshops and the Fleadh Fringe.
A wonderful city-wide and cross-community celebration, bringing together 500+ artists and 70 organisations across Belfast.
Its international spirit was also showcased through Ceol na Cruinne, featuring performers from countries including Australia, Italy, Japan, Germany, Singapore and the USA.
🎻 A vibrant celebration of Irish culture, community and traditional music in the heart of Belfast!
