Pamela Petterchak (she/her) plays MR. BUNGEE. A mental manifestation of Gordon's irritating boss, he's not afraid to point out Gordon's every failure in colorful detail.

Joel Hersh (he/him) plays THE DOCTOR. He's a brain surgeon by day and a doting father after hours.

Shelby Blakey (she/her) plays RICKI. The "nice" nurse, Ricki connects with Gordon through shared insecurities and worries for the future.

Elizabeth Dreifus (she/her) plays NANCY D / THE WAITRESS. The "mean" nurse, Nancy D. is just there to do her job. No need for pleasantries. In contrast, the Waitress has, frankly, too much energy.

Jen S. (she/her) plays THE MINISTER. She tries to be a voice of comfort for Gordon while narrating the story of his life through song.

Based on the real-life experience of composer William Finn (whose other shows include Falsettos and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), A New Brain follows Gordon, a struggling composer, whose life is turned upside down by the diagnosis of a brain tumor. Surrounded by his partner, mother, co-worker, and an eccentric medical team, Gordon drifts in and out of consciousness while trying to finish songs for a children’s television show featuring Mr. Bungee — a character who begins to infiltrate his medical nightmare. As he faces mortality, Gordon is forced to confront his relationships, his career, and ultimately the healing power of art.
