Liz Marley, , was much-loved. She passed away unexpectedly last week and I would like to pay tribute to her by sharing here some of the warm memories she helped to create; to reach people whose lives she touched through the shop. She had many interests and many talents and was generous in sharing her knowledge and passions. Liz kindly designed and contributed the flower and leaf knitting patterns for the Flower Power Yarnbomb that so many of us worked on together to raise awareness of sexual abuse and money for Cambridge R**e Crisis. She was an excellent teacher of many of our knitting classes such as beaded knitting, mosaic and slip-stitch knitting, wire knitting and pattern-reading. Liz’s wide friendships and generosity meant we could host classes and events with other teachers that might not otherwise have happened. She delighted us with the phenomenally complicated technical knits she did while standing up on her packed train commute. By gentle encouragement, invitations to meet like-minded people and simply showing what she had made she encouraged me and many others to take the first steps (then second steps, then third steps) into a whole host of other crafts. Her calm expertise, kindness and hands-down wonderfulness meant a lot to me and many others. She will be missed. Thank you Liz.
