Introducing the first article from The Craft of Writing About Music & Sound Workshop with Yasmina Naji ✍️🎶
Yasmina Naji is a Lebanon-based creative working at the intersection of music, digital media, and live events. Moving between artists, festivals, and cultural spaces, she is drawn to the moments where music and people meet — and to writing that listens as much as it observes.
The Craft of Writing About Music & Sound unfolded as a 3-day workshop led by (aka — writer, researcher, creative) and (scholar, writer, researcher), followed by a 4-day hands-on implementation during BBIMF 2025.
Over the course of the program, participants explored music writing, socio-cultural research, and documentation — moving between theory and practice, listening and reflection, and the many ways sound can be written into memory.

تعمل ياسمينا ناجي، المقيمة في لبنان، عند تقاطع الموسيقى والإعلام الرقمي والفعاليات الحية. وقد عملت مع فنانين ومهرجانات ومساحات ثقافية متنوعة، وتنجذب إلى تلك اللحظات التي تلتقي فيها الموسيقى بالناس، فتكتب عنها بالفضول نفسه الذي تحمله تجاه كل ما تقوم به.
امتدّت ورشة العمل على مدار ٣ أيام، قادها كريستينا حزبوُن (كاتبة، باحثة، ومبدعة) وبيار فرانس (باحث، أكاديمي، وكاتب)، تلاها تطبيقٌ عمليٌّ استمرّ ٤ أيام خلال مهرجان بيروت أند بيوند ٢٠٢٥
خلال البرنامج، استكشف المشاركون الكتابة عن الموسيقى والبحث الثقافي والتوثيق، متنقّلين بين النظرية والتطبيق، وبين الإصغاء والتأمّل، ومتأملين في السبل المختلفة التي يمكن أن تُكتب بها الموسيقى لتصبح ذاكرة.
أُقيمت الورشة مجانًا ضمن برنامج مسار، وبتمويل من المعهد الفرنسي في بيروت.
