To all the folks inquiring about mail order...

I didn't get the inventory photos done in a timely manner. Apologies, but things have been, shall we say, distracting? here lately. I'm putting that little project on my to-do list, right near the top.

Everything NerdForge makes is simply stunning! I learn so much from her videos.

I had planned to carve spoons at Serpent Mound on Sunday during their big Solstice event, but I've just made the decision to cancel out.

The burst of summer heat the last couple of weeks left me with a POTS flare that I'm just barely starting to recover from, and Sunday is predicted hot and stormy all day. Pile a 4-hour round-trip commute on top of that, and I just had to be an adult and admit that I really couldn't handle that.

Adulting is hard! So, no Half-Axed Spoons at Serpent Mound (at least, this year... never say never).

But there are other events in the planning (Mount Oval in Circleville, Lily Fest if it isn't screeching hot in July, etc.), so stay tuned for more info!

Carry on.

For those coming in to Ashville Viking Festival tomorrow, be aware there is a detour in Ashville at the railroad tracks. The road is closed.

If you're coming in on route 23, take 752 north of South Bloomfield headed east. At the Marathon station, turn right onto Long Street, then left onto Harrison which will take you straight to the park. I believe there are detour signs posted from 23.

Good luck!

Finalizing things this week for Ashville Viking Festival (Saturday and Sunday), and just made a commitment to demo spoon carving at the Great Serpent Mound on June 21st Summer Solstice event, 10-5+.

More details on that as the time draws closer.

Ok, brief serious post.
This festival is put on by volunteers (amazing ones), entertainment helps us out, donations both to the Silent Auction to Auction off, and in bidding on items to raise money to put this festival on. We do this for the Local Food Pantry.
Folks, you know what is happening out there. The need is greater than ever. The pantry has for several months run very short although many in our community step up to fill those last minute needs.

We ask for help once again. Please, bring food as you can. One item, one box, one bag, what can you do?
Many whom this pantry serves are older residents in Ashville that the fixed income just doesn't quite stretch any further.
We all are experiencing the rise in daily need costs. Do not give what you cannot. Feed your own first, always. But if you can see your way clear to help out the food pantry in this small town who serve beyond the town borders to those in need, please do.
Closer to opening, I will publish a list of most needed items for our pantry. Peanut butter, spaghetti sauce (no glass jars please, Viking's aren't delicate, glass breaks), boxed foods, no food is turned away. They cannot give out expired food, but all is welcome.
To those who I have seen, walk in with boxes and loaded down bags, so thankful, to those who have one to give, very thankful. It makes a difference in a lot of lives.
The last several years we have broken previous donation records. I would love to do so again.
Thank you all

Some pics from last year's gathering at Ashville Viking Festival. Stealth photographer caught me sharpening my tools totally unaware!

It's only a month to AVF, so hard at work again getting ready. Look for Half-Axed Spoons under the open shelter as usual.
