Half-Axed Spoons Hand-carved wooden spoons by Wolf.

For those coming in to Ashville Viking Festival tomorrow, be aware there is a detour in Ashville at the railroad tracks. The road is closed.

If you're coming in on route 23, take 752 north of South Bloomfield headed east. At the Marathon station, turn right onto Long Street, then left onto Harrison which will take you straight to the park. I believe there are detour signs posted from 23.

Good luck!

Finalizing things this week for Ashville Viking Festival (Saturday and Sunday), and just made a commitment to demo spoon carving at the Great Serpent Mound on June 21st Summer Solstice event, 10-5+.

More details on that as the time draws closer.

Ok, brief serious post.
This festival is put on by volunteers (amazing ones), entertainment helps us out, donations both to the Silent Auction to Auction off, and in bidding on items to raise money to put this festival on. We do this for the Local Food Pantry.
Folks, you know what is happening out there. The need is greater than ever. The pantry has for several months run very short although many in our community step up to fill those last minute needs.

We ask for help once again. Please, bring food as you can. One item, one box, one bag, what can you do?
Many whom this pantry serves are older residents in Ashville that the fixed income just doesn't quite stretch any further.
We all are experiencing the rise in daily need costs. Do not give what you cannot. Feed your own first, always. But if you can see your way clear to help out the food pantry in this small town who serve beyond the town borders to those in need, please do.
Closer to opening, I will publish a list of most needed items for our pantry. Peanut butter, spaghetti sauce (no glass jars please, Viking's aren't delicate, glass breaks), boxed foods, no food is turned away. They cannot give out expired food, but all is welcome.
To those who I have seen, walk in with boxes and loaded down bags, so thankful, to those who have one to give, very thankful. It makes a difference in a lot of lives.
The last several years we have broken previous donation records. I would love to do so again.
Thank you all

Some pics from last year's gathering at Ashville Viking Festival. Stealth photographer caught me sharpening my tools totally unaware!

It's only a month to AVF, so hard at work again getting ready. Look for Half-Axed Spoons under the open shelter as usual.

You can always tell when Ashville Viking Festival gets close because the piles of wood chips and sawdust get deeper in my shop.

It's coming up soon. Next month is almost here.
Things are shaping up for an amazing show.
We have a great vendor line up this year and are about to close applications for this year to concentrate on the next phases of the show. Food category is full, many others are as well. Just juryed in a remarkable vendor last night, if you plan to apply, now is the last possible time until next year.

Winter doldrums and a neck injury are slowing me down, but I've started turning out inventory for the coming festival season, starting with Ashville Viking Festival in late April.

But I got a notice this page was on restriction because of possible community guideline violations. Just how controversial can you be talking about carving wooden spoons? They didn't bother to say what the violations were...

Now it says there are no issues. Gotta be AI screwing up.

Anyhoo, I'll be consolidating my other crafting pages (Viking Plunder. Book of Wolf, Jupiter's Child, etc.) down into one page covering everything non-spoonish: CrescentWalker.

More on that later...

I entered one spoon in the Fairfield County fair's art hall competition, and got a ribbon! Which they laid over the carved handle, so you can't see it.

LOL!
