One thing that we truly enjoy each year is the audience award. Each night for three days, audiences have the opportunity to vote for their favourite short film. This year however, we will make things differently ☺️
'TROPHY' TREES 🌳🏆
Inspired by the wonderful initiative pioneered by the Vienna Shorts film festival and following collaborative discussions with their team, PIFF is honored to adopt their "Trophy Trees" concept: each Audience Award winner will have a living tree planted and dedicated to them and their film. This initiative not only honors the filmmaker’s achievement but also contributes to the reforestation and greening of the local Paphos community. PIFF wants to give credit and a shout-out to Vienna Shorts for this important initiative and is excited to plant the seeds here too, for a greener Cyprus.
To bring this vision to life locally, the festival is partnering with the Department of Forests in Cyprus (Τμήμα Δασών) and the Lemba village in Paphos. The official tree-planting ceremonies will take place every year in the autumn, the ideal season for planting in Cyprus, ensuring that each tree contributes meaningfully to the natural beauty and ecosystem of the region.

Σημαντικό μέρος του φεστιβάλ είναι το Βραβείο Κοινού, το οποίο απονέμεται κάθε βράδυ στην ταινία που λαμβάνει τις περισσότερες ψήφους από τους θεατές. Αυτή η χρονιά όμως,
σηματοδοτεί μια βαθιά προσωπική εξέλιξη για το φεστιβάλ ☺️
ΔΕΝΤΡΑ 'ΤΡΟΠΑΙΑ' 🌳🏆
Εμπνευσμένο από την εξαιρετική πρωτοβουλία του φεστιβάλ κινηματογράφου Vienna Shorts και μετά από συζητήσεις με την
ομάδα τους, το PIFF έχει την τιμή να υιοθετήσει την ιδέα των "Trophy Trees" (Δέντρα-Τρόπαια): για κάθε νικητή του Βραβείου Κοινού θα φυτεύεται ένα δέντρο αφιερωμένο στον δημιουργό
και την ταινία του. Το PIFF τιμά και ευχαριστεί δημόσια το Vienna Shorts για αυτή τη σημαντική πρωτοβουλία και είναι ενθουσιασμένο που ξεκινά αυτή την νέα παράδοση για μια
πιο πράσινη Κύπρο.
Για την υλοποίηση αυτού του οράματος, το φεστιβάλ συνεργάζεται με το Τμήμα Δασών και την κοινότητα της Λέμπας εδώ στην Πάφο. Οι επίσημες τελετές δενδροφύτευσης θα πραγματοποιούνται κάθε φθινόπωρο, διασφαλίζοντας ότι κάθε δέντρο θα συμβάλει ουσιαστικά στη φυσική ομορφιά και το οικοσύστημα της περιοχής.
