Among the that impressed us most during our recent visit to London, a special mention goes to the major retrospective dedicated to Francisco de Zurbarán at the National Gallery.
Nearly four centuries later, his painting continues to astonish through the rigor of its compositions, the almost tactile quality of its surfaces, and that rare ability to make silence visible.
From saints draped in sumptuous fabrics to still lifes of essential perfection and images of profound spirituality, the exhibition reveals the greatness of an artist who holds a central place in seventeenth-century Spanish painting.
Bringing together exceptional loans from leading international collections, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience Zurbarán’s visionary power and his enduring dialogue between reality, devotion, and light.
