WHIP-RULE BREACH 🚨🏇

American jockey Junior Alvarado has been handed a three-day suspension and fined $3,000 after exceeding the permitted crop-use limit aboard Chief Wallabee in the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga on June 6.

According to the stewards’ ruling, Alvarado struck Chief Wallabee eight times during the race, two over the six-strike limit, while finishing fourth in the prestigious Grade 1 contest.

Under HISA regulations, riders who exceed the crop-use limit face fines and suspensions, with penalties increasing for repeat offenses. As this marked Alvarado’s third whip-rule violation within a 180-day period, the sanctions were escalated beyond the standard penalty.

The suspension is set to be served on June 21, 25, and 26, adding another chapter to the ongoing enforcement of whip-use regulations in American horse racing. 🏇🚨

🚨 SUSPENDED AT ROYAL ASCOT!

Australia-based jockey Josh Parr has been handed a 20-day suspension and fined £1,250 after being found in breach of whip rules during Tuesday’s King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot aboard Overpass.

Parr, who guided the Australian star sprinter to a third-place finish, was ruled to have used his whip three times above the permitted limit of six strikes in the closing stages of the race.

The penalty was doubled due to the King’s Charles III Stakes being a Class 1 contest, resulting in a 20-day ban. Parr will be suspended from July 3-11 and July 13-23.

Despite the sanction, Parr and Overpass are still set to return to action in Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes before the suspension takes effect.

Three other riders were also penalized for whip-rule breaches during Royal Ascot. Wayne Lordan received a four-day suspension, Joey Sheridan was banned for seven days, while Rossa Ryan received a three-day suspension after mitigation was applied to his penalty.

🏇👑 FIRST ROYAL ASCOT

A dream come true for Juan Hernandez as he captured his first-ever Royal Ascot victory aboard Bacio in the Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes.

Trained by Wesley Ward and owned by MyRacehorse, Shockley, Hanna & Messenger, Bacio produced a dominant front-running performance, drawing clear to win by 3¾ lengths and give Hernandez a memorable breakthrough on racing’s grandest stage.

The result briefly came under review when Hernandez weighed in light after the race, but stewards later confirmed that an overgirth had accidentally been dropped during unsaddling. Once added back, the rider’s weight was found to be correct and the result stood.

A rider with more than 3,000 career victories, Hernandez added another milestone to his accomplished career with his maiden Royal Ascot success.

“This is a dream come true. To be at Royal Ascot and have a winner here is incredible,” said Hernandez.

FOREVER REMEMBERED 🕊️

Grade 1 winner Fourstar Crook, one of the highest-earning New York-bred racehorses of all time, has passed away in Japan at the age of 14.

Trained by Chad Brown and campaigned by Michael Dubb and partners, Fourstar Crook compiled an outstanding record of 12 wins from 20 starts and earnings of $1,624,566. Her career highlights included victories in the Grade 1 Flower Bowl Stakes, Grade 2 Hillsborough Stakes, New York Stakes, and several prestigious state-bred stakes races.

Following her retirement in 2018, Fourstar Crook was purchased by Northern Farm of Japan for $1.5 million to begin her broodmare career. She went on to produce four foals, with two becoming winners.

A remarkable racehorse, a successful broodmare, and a name that will forever be remembered in the racing world. Rest easy, champion. 🏇🕊️
