There was a small boy in Medina.
His name was Abu Umair. He had a small pet bird called Nughair. He used to play with it, but one day the little bird died.

The Prophet ﷺ, leader of a community, busy with revelation, building a civilization, come to this boy specifically. Just to ask about his bird.

When the Prophet ﷺ came to their home, the boy was sad. The Prophet ﷺ sat down on the floor next to him and asked, gently:
"يَا أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ، مَا فَعَلَ النُّغَيْرُ؟"
"O Abu Umayr, what happened to your little nughayr?"

He didn't say "it's just a bird."
He didn't say "everything dies."
"He didn't move on."

He sat in the grief with the child. As if the loss of one small finch was as important as the building of a nation. Because to that child, it was.
This is who he was.

This small moment shows the Prophet’s ﷺ kindness and compassion even toward a child's grief over a tiny bird.

Yet society teaches her that a woman’s home is something chosen for her, not something she chooses. So she carries the house above her head, while countless expectations become the walls around her.

”What does “home” means to you?

A place?
A person?
Or simply the freedom to belong to yourself?
