Streetwear in India is evolving into its own culture, with young people seeking clothing that expresses identity rather than copying global trends. One brand riding this wave is Untamed Streetwear, launched in July 2023 by 22-year-old Nandan Renukappa. What began as a small college experiment has now grown into a rising streetwear label in Bengaluru, built on Nandan’s entrepreneurial instinct rather than formal fashion training.
From trying food ventures to event management and logistics, Nandan’s curiosity eventually led him to spot a gap in India’s fashion market — most brands were either too luxury or too basic. He wanted high-quality, globally inspired streetwear rooted in Indian streets. The breakthrough idea came from seeing an ice cream cart on Church Street, which inspired him to create the Untamed Cart, a unique mobile pop-up that helped the brand gain attention and momentum.
