Cold Mayo
Lady asked for cold mayo with her burger and I directed her to the mayo we had in the caddy and said we don’t have cold mayo. She gave me a stank face and said ā€œYou really don’t have cold mayo?ā€ No. She asked another server and he responded by saying that we don’t and no one had ever asked him for that before. The bottle says it doesn’t have to be refrigerated. I’d maybe understand if we were a burger place but we’re a pub that serves burgers. Does your restaurant have cold mayo? Her name is Karen too, so very fitting!

The Hazel have been missing since 19 April, 2026, from James City County, Virginia. At the time of their disappearance, Hazel was 10 years old, Authorities report they were last seen on 22 April, 2026 in the company of their father, Ahmed Abdallah Taha Kandil, departing the United States from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, with travel routes reportedly including Ukraine and Turkey.

The children were born in Augusta, Georgia, and age-progressed images have been released by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to assist in identifying what they may look like today. Investigators believe they may have connections to or may be located in regions including Alexandria, Cairo, or Giza in Egypt, as well as the Hatay region of Turkey.

FBI Norfolk Field Office is working jointly with the James City County Police Department and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to investigate the case. Authorities continue to request assistance from the public, emphasizing that any information, regardless of how minor it may seem, could help locate the children.

The case remains active, and officials continue coordinated international efforts to determine their whereabouts and ensure their safety after many years missing.

I AM LITERALLY SHAKING. I just paid $12,500 to finish my basement and I walk downstairs to find my walls looking like a giant green and white zebra! The lead guy had the audacity to tell me this is industry standard and just the first coat but I hired professional finishers not a kindergarten art class. I told him to sand it all off and start over with actual solid white paint or I’m calling the police for theft of service! Am I overreacting or is this absolutely disgusting quality for a premium renovation?!!

So tonight I saw exactly why those ā€œno dine-in before closingā€ signs exist.

A group walked in about 20–25 minutes before closing. Lights dimming, chairs going up, staff clearly already in closing mode—and right on the door:

ā€œNO DINE-IN 30 MIN BEFORE CLOSING.ā€

Clear. Simple. Impossible to miss.

But they came in anyway with the classic line:
ā€œWe’ll be quick šŸ˜Šā€

And every server knows—that’s rarely how it goes.

ā€œQuickā€ turns into menus, drinks, appetizers, full meals… and somehow dessert too šŸ’€

Meanwhile, the kitchen that was already cleaned gets reopened, floors that were just mopped get walked over again, and staff who were minutes from heading home are now stuck resetting everything.

From the customer side, it feels small:
ā€œIt’s just one table.ā€
ā€œIt’s just a quick meal.ā€

But from the other side, it’s the difference between going home on time or restarting an entire closing routine.

That’s why those signs exist—not to be rude, but to protect the people who’ve been working all day.

So next time you see one… just know there’s a reason behind it.

I walked past a sign today… and I’m still thinking about it hours later.

Right there on the door it said:
ā€œPlease DO NOT order food if you’re not going to leave a minimum 25% tip.ā€

I actually stopped and read it twice to make sure I wasn’t misunderstanding it.

Because tipping—at least the way most of us grew up understanding it—was never supposed to feel like this. It was something you chose to give. A way of saying, ā€œhey, that service was great, I appreciate you.ā€

But this? This felt different.

This felt like a condition just to sit down and eat. Like before you even see the menu, before you even experience the service, there’s already a price attached that isn’t really optional.

And I get it… I really do.
Workers deserve to be paid fairly. Nobody’s arguing that. If anything, most people want to tip well when the service is good.

But somewhere along the line, it feels like the responsibility shifted.
Instead of businesses paying employees properly and building that cost into the menu… it’s being pushed onto customers to make up the difference.

And now we’re at a point where signs like this exist.

It just makes you wonder—
when did tipping stop being a thank-you… and start becoming an entry fee?

Because if I’m being honest, it changes the whole experience.
It doesn’t feel like appreciation anymore. It feels like pressure.

Curious where everyone else stands on this…
Would you still order there—or walk right back out
