Episode 8: Perfect Hug

Just as love begins within us, a sculpture is built from within.

Beneath the bronze, an internal structure supports the figures and holds their embrace in place. It’s a part you’ll never see, but it gives strength to something meant to feel tender.

I think love can be like that too. We can’t always see it, but we feel it in the way someone holds us, in the comfort they give, and in the quiet moments when we know we’re not alone.

With Perfect Hug, I wanted to bring that feeling from the inside out, turning the love behind one small embrace into something that could reach others and stay with them.

Episode 6:
As Perfect Hug began taking physical form, the smallest details carried so much of its meaning. The placement of a hand. The tilt of a head. The way two figures lean into one another.

From the wax to each stage of fabrication, those details needed care. They held the tenderness of the hug that inspired it, and I wanted to preserve that feeling as the sculpture came to life.

Watching so many hands help shape a work about love made the process even more meaningful to me.

Piece by piece, we were creating something I hoped could give someone a little of what that hug gave me: comfort, connection, and the feeling of being loved without having to give anything in return.
